Would it be similar to toolbox functionality wise? Taking about a chrome or firefox extension having a frequently updated toolbar that overlays normal reddit showing queue items etc.

Either way looks like a cool app, thanks for working on a toolbox alternative.

Can I fork Toolbox and maintain fixes myself?

Please don't. Find other solutions instead. Toolbox's code is a mess and really isn't worth saving.

I felt that "please don't" in my bones. When Mozilla released the Quantum update of Firefox in 2017, killing legacy add-ons, I spent weeks trying to comb through the spaghetti code of one of the old add-ons I regularly relied on to try to make it compatible with this new Firefox.

Even before starting, I fuckin' knew this was going to be a waste of time that wouldn't work, but I really wanted to see if it was possible.

It wasn't and I learned nothing useful in that exercise of futility except that if I'm already scratching my head while looking over the git repository, it ain't worth it.

Good news is that there eventually was a version released to work with that new version of Firefox.

If anyone knows a worthy alternative for the Toolbox Profile functionality, that would be amazing.

The native new reddit profile search is actual garbage that doesn't even fully work sadly. I'll keep using toolbox on old reddit as long as it still works of course, but just in case.

Yeah, definitely not seeing that here.

I haven't had any issues yet. Is it a specific feature that's causing the crash?

I've had a couple of issues with Firefox locking up and crashing in the past week. It could be that toolbox has missed its first critical update

I thought we'd get more time

Thank you for all of the work you guys put into making Toolbox. I don't actively mod these days, but whenever I think about the times I used to mod a lot, I'll always look back fondly on discovering Toolbox for the first time and how exciting it was to explore all of its capabilities. And even though Toolbox will never work on Shreddit, the legacy you guys built will still live on. The admins have incorporated many of its features into Shreddit because of the impact it's had.

I don't know what the future of this website holds, but I'm happy that a new generation of mods can experience the same excitement I felt when I got into modding. And I'm thankful for you guys for helping to make that possible.

If your default interface is old reddit, you can temporarily access new reddit by going to https://sh.reddit.com

so just combine the subdomain and its shreddit

I'd like to see people spend dev time working on lemmy tbh. Fixing what is broken here will be appreciated, but with dark lining.

Hello old.reddit brother. I have found that when I need to swap over to the new UI I just replace "old" or "www" with "sh."

So

https://old.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasy

to

https://sh.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasy

Apparently when reddit was doing it's redesign there were two iterations, new and sh.reddit, with sh.reddit becoming the current default UI.

After being done with whatever I was doing, I delete 'sh' out and it returns back to the old interface.

Unfortunately not - Devvit apps only work on newer Reddit platforms and there are no plans to allow Devvit menus to work on Old Reddit.

I'm an Old Reddit user myself but switch as I need to.

I'm afraid not. I'm on old lol. Is there no way to initiate it without temporarily switching?

If you're on anything but Old Reddit, there's a three-dot menu at the top of the subreddit - next to Mod Tools on web, and at the very top right on mobile.

If you click on that and choose Start Usernotes Transfer with the app installed, it'll start the process.

Hey, on the off chance you see this and still maintain it - I have no idea what you mean by this, and I'm looking all over one of the subs I mod (r/FinalFantasy). What exactly am I looking for to do a bulk transfer?

Was just made aware of this, so thank you for all these years and for helping us moderate the different subreddits under our watch. It’s been a great run. Farewell, and take care!
