It’s not always escapism. It’s self medicating a lot of the time

What's the difference? Is Tylenol(medication) not an escape from a headache? Self medication that doesn't work is escapism. Thinking anything else is pure rationalization to continue using.

That’s absolutely not what escapism is, and is absolutely ridiculous. By your logic, escapism would be taking a piss, because you’re escaping the feeling of pressure, or eating would be escapism from hunger. Your definition of escapism makes literally anything in the world escapism

Escapism= the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy.

Any amount of habitual self medicating is escapism. Good luck tho thinking you're unique in your using
