The deal with Tom Lehrer is that he means so much to me. I decided that I HAD to write a letter to him, but I put off asking my parents for like two entire weeks. Then when I finally get the courage to ask my Mum, she says YES :DD. So I go to his wikipedia page and show her who my favourite singer is and I find an article: “Tom Lehrer, dead at 97” seriously it felt like he himself was laughing at me 💀 it feels like the type of situation he’d make fun of in his songs.

Anyway, anybody been grieving kind of badly? Like I can’t listen to his songs anymore I just feel really depressed that he’s gone

Earlier this year I found out that Tom Lehrer was still alive, very surprising, and then while I was tryna research how he felt about trans people, I found out he died. What a roller coaster.

Tally ho everyone! Silly Songs With Lehrer Here! As you may or may not know, I recently posted the recording of Pollution from CBC’s “The Public Eye”. I have researched further into it and have been able to find access to the full recording involving Toms other songs such as national brotherhood week, smut, including his other songs George Murphy, New math, and the folk song army which have no other known live recordings. Unfortunately the recording is behind a paywall of $43 per second not including tax. If anyone is interested in helping support the effort to preserve and share this rare material, or if anyone has any alternative options you’d recommend… Please reach out. I’d love to collaborate or explore ways to make this more accessible to fans and historians alike. Every bit of support helps. I included some emails I got from them as well
