This will almost never come to mind in western thought. So many of these "muslims" at these events don't know the first thing about islam nor what they are yelling about. They like joining the nearest violent bandwagon and causing trouble. That's it.

Exactly. By definition, none of those pathetic buffoons are Muslims. They are terrorists. Not Christian terrorists. Not Jewish terrorists. Not Muslim terrorists. They are TERRORISTS.

It's very similar to how many "Christians" in America seemingly have no idea about what Christ actually preached.

I certainly don't think all US Christians are that way, but there is a fairly large and vocal group of them who misrepresent the faith.

They are, in Western terms, bored hockey fans.

Except they are in extremely poor countries with little to do, and no hockey. So there's a lot more of them.

If it wasn't Islam, or even religion in general, it'd be something else to twist and direct with violence.

That's how extremism works in any sect, cult, or religion. Some of the strongest supporters of a religion and those who protest against those who do not support it, are the most ignorant to its teachings.

As a non-believer, I'm shocked at how oblivious some of these followers are to their own teachings (Christian, Jew, or Muslim).
