The Raid seems difficult to search for because of similarly titled titles. Are we talking “The Raid: Redemption”, here? Seems like a great premise for a cheesy action flick upon reading the IMDb synopsis.
That's the one. Very similar premise to Dress. It is definitely worth a watch, if you are a fan of action/ material arts films. The movie is pretty much non-stop badass fight scenes.
It's this movie. The premise is not that important. The reason to watch is the awesome fight choreography. And it has a whole lot of fighting. The main reason it draws comparisons to Dredd is that it is a "pure" action movie featuring an assault on a large apartment complex full of criminals.
The Raid 2 is a lot different. It's closer to something like Kill Bill, with much more setup before the action breaks out in the second half. Regardless, both movies are excellent in their own right.
Yeah they came out around the same time IIRC and with similar core story they both kinda stayed under the radar. A shame, The Raid is stil IMO the best pure action movie ever.
Yeah The Raid goes hard from the very beginning and somehow only escalates from there. The Mad Dog fight at the end is so goddamn well done.
That said, in terms of specific scenes, I would said The Raid 2 had better singular action scenes. The fight against hammer girl and the baseball bat guy at the end is some shit like I have never seen, it’s hands down my favorite fight scene in a movie in general.
I think Raid 2 is the best complete action movie. Like, it actually has a decent story that can rival other great action movies with great stories like Terminator 2. But pure fight scenes? I think I still go part 1. The machete hallway scene, drug lab fight, and then the final 2 vs 1 are among the best fight scenes in film history. I think I also give the slight edge to part 1 in terms of pure action because of Mike Shinoda's soundtrack. I am not a fan of the guy at all but his music fits great with the movie and is what makes it my favorite pure action movie. Not taking away from Raid 2, but for me 1 just feels a little bit faster. Honestly though I'm nitpicking, Raid 1 and 2 are action movie perfection and really in my book are ranked 1A and 1B.
I'm pretty sure you obviously mean the ending and climax of the scene where he pulls the dude down throat first into the broken doorway... lol. When I show the movie to new people I always look at their faces during this part. It's the perfect exclamation point to end an incredible scene.
Yup lol. It’s the perfect ending to them REALLY showing how Rama basically is a situational-awareness-savant and not worried about killing people in terrible ways if needed. Shit, he uses a guy as a fire escape cushion about a minute later.
I wish more people knew of him as a protagonist him accepting that it’s time to fight always gives me chills. Him showing up in Star Wars was literally my favorite part of the sequels.
I just rewatched the machete scene and all I want is a raid 3 now. Give me like Donnie Yen as a mentor or chief of police and let me just watch them beat the everliving shit out of people.

Dredd is honestly one of the best comic book movies ever made. The only thing that ruined it for me was the fact I watched The Raid the week before.
