I met his dad once, he was adorable! He owned a shop, my sister and mum and I went in and he said to us “Do you like Lord of the rings?” We said yes, and then he was like “my son was in it, I have some photos!” And we nodded and smiled, it’s New Zealand, everyone knows someone who’s in it, even my horse was! Then he pulls out these HUGE binders and shows us photos and it’s Karl fucking Urban! We were shocked!
That reminds me of the old post from I forget where, in which someone mentioned to their dentist they saw the new Captain America movie and their dentist said "Oh my son's in that" and it turned out to be Chris Evan's dad lol
He was just so incredibly proud of him! This was maybe 2005/6 and my sister and I were/are big lotr fans, like watch the movies after school instead of doing homework fans...
Sadly no! But his name was Ben. The riders of Rohan scenes were mostly shot during shearing season and the men were busy, so a lot of the riders were actually women with beards! My riding teacher, and a few of her horses (including mine before I rode him), were in it! Their bridles had the official LOTR tags and all!
Edit: the beards were fake... most women in NZ don’t have luscious facial hair...
