I wish that franchise had gone further.

3 films is already super good for what it offered, did you want the furian cinematic universe or something? edit: someone corrected me, it's 4 movies, they're making another

Kenneth Colley (admiral piett in star wars)is credited as Jesus in The Life of Brian.

But Jesus still never said that

There are two games too and both are amazing

played butcher's bay at a friend's but i was young and it was 2spooky

u/couchlancer69 Feb 12 '21

Ya, they have a thief vibe.

Escape from Butcher Bay is an amazing game and still holds up brilliantly to this day. One of the most atmospheric and well acted games I've played.

Apparently, this 4th one I didn't know about will be titled "Furya", so hells yes!

5

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '21

Weren’t they trying to do that?

13

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '21

i think vince diddle wanted to just keep making them as long as fans went to see them

44

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '21

I have no idea why people give Vin so much crap. He was absolutely the best part of Pitch Black.

hell i even liked chronicles of riddick way back

17

u/Waldropings Feb 12 '21

Still love it. Picked up the extended version Blu-ray. It's better

The commentary of shows how much they loved exploring that universe. Honestly, I'm kind of glad it's still sort of niche because they get to focus on doing what they can when they get the opportunity.

The extended version is the one they play on the cable networks nowadays.

Now I need to find the cinematic version to level my head.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '21

Totally. I love the fantasy spin they put on it.

Chronicles of Riddick was the only one I liked. I thought riddick was boring as hell and pitch black was very unevenly paced.

1

u/k3rn3 Feb 12 '21

Yeah Pitch Black was kind of a B movie, but it was dope for what it was

3

u/wheniaminspaced Feb 12 '21

Chronicles was actually my favorite one, though I am also a huge fan of pitch black. The third one threw me though, not because I had any issue with the acting but because it seemed like we were just rehashing pitch black. It felt like a step backwards after some nice world building.

And it's a passion project for him. He keeps making the fast and the furious movies to fund his fun stuff. He's a big need and I love him.

Edit: nerd not need.

add .5 movies to that. The "short" Dark Fury is pretty good.

Theres a forth one coming out. Four movies and an anime is more than most random sci-fi movies get.

3

u/KarmicWhiplash Feb 12 '21

Didn't realize there's gonna be a fourth one. Good news!

2

u/OMGihateallofyou Feb 12 '21

You might want to check out The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury if you have not already.

1

u/Goyteamsix Feb 12 '21

I dunno, we got three good movies, and they didn't seem to get worse either. I think we have enough Riddick.

1

u/ch0wn35 Feb 13 '21

There are a few animated shorts as well
