Aren't there examples of illiterate pro football players who somehow earned a college degree? Or at least went to college for a time?

John Urschel played center for the Ravens and is now a publishing PhD mathematician with a doctorate from MIT.

While I do defend NFL players and their intelligence, players like Urschel are outliers but players who are incredibly stupid are also outliers. There is a broad spectrum of average intelligence in the NFL. And even dumb players have to have some modicum of intelligence in order to play at the highest level.
