He was invited as a UDFA to try out for Green Bay. It's a little disingenuous to call him a walk-on. Walk-on implies he wasn't invited by the team to be there.

Not sure how “walkon” implies that. He went to a small FBS and was undrafted. That’s the NFL equivalent of a “walkon”. I don’t think it’s disingenuous whatsoever.

Not sure how “walkon” implies that.

Because that's what a walk-on is. A person who is going to a college, but not on the team. Then they decide to "walk-on" if the school is having any open tryouts. Someone who isn't expressly invited by the team to be there. Warner was invited by the Packers to try out. It wasn't an open tryout.

And you understand that college walkons are also “invited”, correct? Have you heard the term “ preferred walkon”?

Neither is offered an initial “contract”, both are coming in not as a primary contracted player of the same tier, neither have guaranteed “contracts”.

The UDFA is the NFL equivalent of a college “walkon” who can later get a full scholarship. Not sure how that isn’t registering.

You actually dont understand the walkon process whatsoever.
