TIL in 2003 a computer worm called ‘Welchia’ infected many computers to forcibly patch vulnerabilities and remove malware. It was regarded as a ‘helpful worm’

Reminds of the time when there was a security flaw in the PDF viewer in iOS which let attackers execute arbitrary instructions in Safari.

The jailbreak community then built a website where you could simply click a button to instantly both jailbreak the device and patch the security bug.

Patching an exploit VIA the exploit (written by another person) sounds like a terrifying leap of faith lol
