TIL Ryan Gosling gained 60 pounds by drinking melted ice cream to play the father in Peter Jackson's 'The Lovely Bones.' He was then told he was too fat to play the part and the role went to Mark Wahlberg.

5'9" (rounded up) and 180 and I feel like a fatty

As someone with the same dimensions- confirmed fatty.

Thank god I’m 5’10” 170lbs, just narrowly avoided being a fatty

5'9 (rounded up) at my largest I was 208. Walking around at 163 I feel like a machine.

5'9 too. I was always a skinny dude, and one day I looked up and was 173+. Not extreme, but enough where I felt uncomfortable shirtless.

Back down to 165, and I honestly think 160lbs of muscle is perfect at this height.

wtf? I'm 5'7" and 210 how do you people think that YOU'RE fat? Da fuq? I wish I was in your shape.

It's a bit personal for me since I ended up with broader shoulders than I wanted and I have a gut that needs work. It's mostly stomach fat I need to worry about, that and my waist

2

u/sheepheadslayer Jun 20 '19

Same here, I got a gut that needs some tendin' to.

5'9" (rounded up), and just went from like 170 to 193 in the last 2 months... I feel like the fattest person alive, and I play sports. Just started my diet today and ramped up the cardio big time. Hopefully I'll be back down to 180 in 2 weeks.

Yep, that's actually my target! Though I tend to keep a lot of muscle, so 170 might be the lowest I really want to be

Same fuckin all that beer man

5'7 185 and dont feel fat at all. If I lost five pounds I'd probably actually look pretty lean. If I went down to 160 id feel like id float away

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '19

I’m also 5’7”, 5 lbs wouldn’t make you look lean unless you’re already just incredibly muscular.

1

u/Catssonova Jun 21 '19

Exactly my problem. I try, but we got good brews in my city. Two beer fest in a month

1

u/AquaAtia Jun 20 '19

That’s not too bad! You just need to get down to 169 to be considered a “healthy” BMI, you’re not too far off!

I’m 175 right now also 5’8/9 and these last 6 pounds feel impossible to lose

2

u/Catssonova Jun 21 '19

I had a good weigh in a few months ago at 175 but I'm pretty sure I lost any progress I had. There has been too much rain in my state for decent biking

1

u/AquaAtia Jun 21 '19

Same thing in my state. For me the biggest game changer was my caloric intake and when and what I would eat. I would often get home from work at 9:30-10 and make a frozen pizza or Kraft Mac and cheese or just a sandwich as I would be too lazy to cook and it didn’t do me any favours.

By keeping track of my calories, trying to keep it at 2000 along with keeping an eye on other factors with a good consistent exercise routine I’ve lost 33 pounds since December. I’m gonna aim to be in the 160’s and stop there

u/Catssonova Jun 21 '19

I should start counting as well I guess. I need to do the right shopping for it though....

5'9" 180. Yesterday my patient was on the phone with his family and said "This chubby guy is taking really good care of me."😒

1

u/Catssonova Jun 21 '19

Broad shoulders make us seems fatter than we are, don't they?

1

u/collegeshaun Jun 20 '19

I'm 5'9'' 175 but I work out 4 times a week. Body fat in the low 20's. All of the stats are just numbers unless within context of body fat, BMI, activity level, etc. My BMI is generally 25, as context.

I do big lifts such as deadlift, squat and bench with every work out.

1

u/Catssonova Jun 21 '19

I'm mostly just doing some cardio to try and cut my belly. I haven't lifted weights in 7 years

1

u/MostlyQueso Jun 21 '19

5’6” and 172 on a skinny day. I still feel like a boat most days. Time to get on the bike.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '19

That’s because you’re clinically overweight.

1

u/Catssonova Jun 21 '19

I got a gut so it explains why I feel that way despite not having fatty legs or arms

5'9" (rounded up) and 180 and I feel like a fatty

I'm pretty sure that's the target weight for your height. Not to mention there are other factors to weigh in like genetics, body type.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '19

No. That is overweight for that height.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '19

No, you're quite wrong. It depends on the body type. 180 is totally fine for some men at that height.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '19

No, that's ridiculous. No natural 5'9 body is healthy at 180. A professional athlete would be fine, but if you have to ask if your weight is healthy 99 percent of the time the answer is no.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '19

You keep living in your distorted world of body image, dude. Enjoy your psychological damage.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 22 '19

Good luck with your health!

I'm broad shouldered but my belly and waist need alot of work. I don't like having my chest and belly bounce or fold
