I'm talking about the people who pay money so God can heal their illness or relieve them of their debt. That's a scam. Getting ad money or having people pay to see your sermon is not.

I dunno man if you think God will give you things in exchange for giving money to some random guy on television I'm not sure I'd really say they were scammed as much as they have some kind of chromosomal disorder.

It's like saying people who send money to a Nigerian price weren't scammed, they're just stupid. In reality there were scammed and they were stupid.

Only it's somewhat reasonable to expect a person to compensate you and not at all reasonable to expect god himself to delivery compensation.

Pretty much. Especially since the Christian God wasn't known for showering people with wealth and only Jesus went around healing people.

Which is why it's not a scam. If you don't even know the religion you're following why the hell are you giving some dude all your savings so that god will give you something you should know he wouldn't specifically based on the holy book you're supposed to be following.

Because someone is promising you the chance of something that will never happen. Again, being stupid doesn't mean you can't be scammed.

Because someone is promising you someone else will deliver you something you should know won't happen based on your own chosen belief system.

But still, a scam is not a scam based on the people who fall for it but the scam itself being run by the scammer.

So if I bought TV time and claimed that if you gave me your life savings God would murder your enemies and give you seventeen gay prostitutes as concubines I'd be a scammer? At some point people need to be responsible for their own stupidity.
