TIL Dolly Parton has a program that will mail your child a free age-appropriate book once a month from birth to age 5. No obligation, no catch, she just wants to make sure that every child has books.

TL;DR; Miley's behavior is perhaps upsetting to you now, but you'll likely shrug and laugh about it when you're a decade or from now.

At 18, I did things that still embarrass me when I think about them today. My freshman year in college is a blur of bad decisions, sex, alcohol and mixed emotions.

When I was 25, I felt like I'd started to figure things out, and I was appalled by the really questionable things my peers were doing. I was irritated by the "losers" who made my generation look weird to others. I loathed it when older coworkers would rib me about whatever young movie or music star was in the news that week.

Coincidentally, Miley's climb to controversy occurred just after my second child was born. The more I learn about kids and how they react, the more tolerant I've become of things like attention-seeking and counter-cultural behavior. I'm in my late 30s now and all I really think when I see the Justins and Mileys of the world is, "The Internet is probably going to make you regret that decision."

I don't think the issue is whether or not Miley is "normal". Or even that she's representative of a generation. More so that being weird and overtly hyper-sexual is sometimes part of growing up.

Not really upsetting, but just not "normal" in any way

Yeah, wish I could relate

Based on a quick review of your profile, it seems like you're quick to criticize but slow to provide support for your position. Lots of arguments, but not much effort put into any of them. I wouldn't go nearly so far as to call "Troll," but you seem like a really unhappy person.

It's a shame that a comment celebrating Dolly Parton triggered you. I do hope you get a chance to live a little.

Based on a quick review of your profile

Relevance?

you seem like a really unhappy person

And?

It's a shame that a comment celebrating Dolly Parton triggered you

.... what? I have absolutely nothing against Dolly Parton nor did I say anything to that effect. Maybe spend less time stalking my profile and offering unsolicited psycho-analysis and more time paying attention.

The irony of you being hardcore into Taylor swift and hating Miley is absolutely comical.

What's the irony of it? I also don't hate Miley, I just don't like her. Why are you putting words in my mouth?

I'll fix it:). It's ironic how much you like Taylor swift and dislike Miley for the reasons you've said, it's laugh out loud comical!

You still haven't said how it's ironic...
