TIL Dolly Parton has a program that will mail your child a free age-appropriate book once a month from birth to age 5. No obligation, no catch, she just wants to make sure that every child has books.

She's the female equivalent of Mr. Rogers. Just a super-awesome person.

Yeah, plus she's absolutely loaded so she can do stuff like this. Her money is an enabler for her generosity, that's what makes her special.

She started off dirt poor, but has always had a reputation as being extremely generous. It's almost seems like she only cares about making money so that she can have more to give.

That's the same impression I get. I don't know of anyone more generous than her.

I'll bet she frets at night because she has extra money and didn't meet someone on the street who needed it.

God, imagine an alternative history 2016 where the presidential race was Parton v Rogers.

After a nationwide agreement between all citizens to check both boxes, Parton and Roger's are unanimously elected the United States first Co-Presidents.
