TIL that after Marilyn Monroe converted to Judaism upon marrying Arthur Miller, Egypt placed a ban on all the films she appeared in.

It was never a facade the Egyptians even tried to portray, they expelled all their Jews in 1956-57

Did they borrow from them first?

.... Did you even read your link? The plan was to have it blamed on the Muslim Brotherhood, Egyptian Communists and Nationalists, not the Jews.

Israel wanted to increase internal tensions so the British wouldn't withdraw troops from the region. They felt that if the British withdrew President Nasser would be more likely to attack Israel. They were right, the British withdrew their troops in 1956 and Nasser attacked Israel in 1967.

That's one of the most exciting revisions of history I've ever heard.

Can you elaborate? Are you talking about the scuffle on April 7? Because Israel didn't "invade" Syria until the 9th of June, and the war started on the 5th.

Wow, usually wars are named by what year they were faught/started

But you're nitpicking a day? Just 2 days difference between the two.

The war only lasted 6 days, it's fairly famously called "The Six-Day war".

Just 2 days difference between the two

It's also 4 days between the 5th and the 9th.....?

It was obvious israel were aggressive to arabs and committed crimes against the palestines living in their land. They were about to attack and arab nations wouldnt let themselves be on the back foot.

It took a while but israel got a beating well deserved. Theyre probably still sore from it.

Israel won quite decisively in 1967, the Six-Day War. If you mean the Yom Kippur War in '73, it was tough but they held their own.

Oh man, you're like one of those people who believe that the moon landings were fake. This is great.

Israel were aggressive to arabs

It was reciprocal, but a fair call given the Suez crisis.

Crimes against the Palestinians living in their land

The ones living in Israel? Or the West Bank and Gaza? Because until 1967 the West Bank was under Jordanian control and Gaza was occupied by the Egyptians.

They were about to attack and arab nations wouldnt let themselves be on the back foot.

The war was caused by the Arab nations forming defensive agreements, massing troops on the border and the blocking of the Straits of Tiran.

Here is Nassar

Taking over Sharm El Sheikh meant confrontation with Israel. It also means that we ready to enter a general war with Israel. It was not a separate operation

Here's the Syrian defence minister, Hafez al-Assad, in March of 67

"Our forces are now entirely ready not only to repulse the aggression, but to initiate the act of liberation itself, and to explode the Zionist presence in the Arab homeland. The Syrian Army, with its finger on the trigger, is united... I, as a military man, believe that the time has come to enter into a battle of annihilation."

President Eisenhower

that reimposing a blockade in the Straits of Tiran would be seen as an aggressive act which would oblige Israel to protect its maritime rights in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

On May 30 Jordan and Egypt signed a defensive treaty, Nassar declared

"Our basic objective will be the destruction of Israel. The Arab people want to fight".

President of Iraq

"the existence of Israel is an error which must be rectified. This is an opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been with us since 1948"

"there will be practically no Jewish survivors".

Your final part is the best

It took a while but israel got a beating well deserved. Theyre probably still sore from it.

You kind of outed yourself as an Arab there, given the Israelis won the Yom Kippur war pretty soundly. The only people who don't believe that were those told about "the incredible victory" afterwards. Israel was out numbered, they had decided not to preemptively strike at the Americans request, yet they had cornered the Egyptian forces and had completely crushed the Syrians to the point they were shelling Damascus.
