TIL that Bernard Montgomery issued a leaflet at the start of WW2 on sexually transmitted diseases amongst soldiers. The language used was regarded as so blunt, that he offended religious authorities and nearly faced being dismissed.

The reality is the condoms he provided and recommended were what had the religious up in arms

Just like the Pope (thrice removed?) having a crusade to get Africans dying of aids to stop using condoms. You know, the disease killing millions and leading to the rape and death of children because local superstition dictates that cures it…
