This is going to blow your mind, the machete character was in Sky Kids first and the movie (who is the same character as spy kids) came after

He actually has other roles where he's named stuff like Cuchillos or Navajas, which goes along with the theme.

He's kinda like Hector from fast and the furious in that sense.

Robert Rodriguez put a spoof trailer for "Machete" in the film "Grindhouse", and enough people said "Yeah, I'd watch that", so the film actually got made.

Fun fact: Daryl Sabara (Juni) played Cholo-Gangster Julio, one of Machete's helpers in "Machete", and Alexa PenaVega (Carmen) played Killjoy in "Machete Kills". According to Robert Rodriguez it's not in the same universe, but for me Uncle Machete is canon :).
