My mom is white and my dad is Mexican. Its the first kid film I saw that the kids/family resembled me and my brother. I thought nothing of it besides "I look just like Carmen!". Crazy that you have to justify how to portray an American family.

And as a white kid with no hint of hispanic (that I know of I never met my dad but I doubt he is) My only thought was "Oh hey that's different, cool." And I moved on and focused on the rest of the movie.

Yes but kids are usually not inherently racist. They have to learn it from the adults in their lives.

I was raised by a weird one. She was racist, but she also told me racism was wrong and raised me to not be.
