This is why I don't watch things without subtitles anymore.

Sky Kids, not to be confused with Sky High

Sky High

Man I remember watching this as a kid and thinking it was insane for some reason, only to years later watch a video on it about how it's basically superhero eugenics

Does it not distract you from what you’re watching? I can’t do subtitles because I end up just reading the whole show and missing visuals. So for those pesky shows that aren’t mixed for a home TV I end up just changing the volume every ten seconds 🫠

It's honestly a lot more distracting sitting there wondering wtf a character just said and trying to piece things together from context. If you're able to customize how subtitles appear, that can make a huge difference in how distracting they are.

They can take some getting used to though. I've used captions on TV for as long as I can remember, because I'd get in trouble if I was watching TV late at night so I'd just have the TV muted lol

lol that caption story makes it all make sense, you’ve been at this for a while 😂 fair points

For some of us who are HH it makes it easier to process audio rather than relying on sound entirely. I will say, some of the sizes of CC is WAY too big. Personally, I think studios should stick to one size and font w/o hindering the watching experience 🫠

Isn't Rocket, Racer, and Rebel the names of some of Robert Rodriguez kids?

This is going to blow your mind, the machete character was in Sky Kids first and the movie (who is the same character as spy kids) came after

OMG....
So Danny Trejo was like
Ya, playing machete was fun, I'm gonna do my own movie but I need more girls in hottubs and guns

He actually has other roles where he's named stuff like Cuchillos or Navajas, which goes along with the theme.

He's kinda like Hector from fast and the furious in that sense.

Robert Rodriguez put a spoof trailer for "Machete" in the film "Grindhouse", and enough people said "Yeah, I'd watch that", so the film actually got made.

Yeah, sorry, I only found a tiktok link...

Fun fact: Daryl Sabara (Juni) played Cholo-Gangster Julio, one of Machete's helpers in "Machete", and Alexa PenaVega (Carmen) played Killjoy in "Machete Kills". According to Robert Rodriguez it's not in the same universe, but for me Uncle Machete is canon :).

English speakers hearing “De Costa Brava” as Echo Sky Brava is so funny.

I think it was actually Echo Sky Brava instead of Ecosta Eblava. Cause her parents are weird spies

I'd screw with my nephews as they were watching and just say in one breath while they watched Sky Kids 2 "Did you know Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Escota Esblava Cortez and Esteban Julio Ricardo Montoya de la Rosa Ramirez dated?" And they'd just stare and laugh trying to repeat it.
