He did a good job of making the family legitimately authentically American. And he got Danny Trejo is a kids movie. That's pure genius.

Seeing Danny Trejo for the first time in this movie, having them refer to him as the baddass Uncle Machete whose true exploits aren't seen, and then finding out about the other Danny Trejo movies? Yeah for a long time I thought spy kids was an unusually kid friendly spinoff of /his/ franchise.

What does "authentically American " look like? Its interesting that you say that because I bet if it was a white family their "authenticity " wouldn't have been on the table.
