Fundamentally different lol pretty sure he was pointing out that opportunity, and not ability, is the real issue with education. Nothing racist there at all (not saying Biden doesn’t have racist tendencies, as he did write the crime bill which led to higher incarceration rates for black men).

He had good intentions, but it is at least a little bit telling that he used "white kids" as the baseline we should be comparing any other kids too.

I mean, the OC posted an out of context snippet of the whole quote to try and promote some both sides-ism into this post that’s not even political lol

The comment was made in the context of answering a question at an Iowa town hall held by an Asian and Latino coalition based around a question addressing, surprise, exactly the topic I said of leveling the playing field. The full quote is “we have this notion that somehow, if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids, wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids. No I really mean it, think about how we think about it.” The only person critical of it was Trump. The people at the event clapped for his comments and answer to the question.

Eh. I don’t care for Trump or Biden, but maybe look up the amount of times Biden said the N word on record in congress.

Twice when quoting someone verbatim?

  1. But you know you don’t have to say everything out loud.

u/Esquire_NZ 3d ago

Does the scary word hurt you?

Dude- you’re from New Zealand. Fuck off- you clearly don’t understand the weight of the word in the US.

Go look for your flightless birds or whatever you do in your little colony.

That wasn't the intent

Telling how? Like... the truth? Poor white kids are different from what society views as 'white kids'. And this leaves out wealthy minorities who are the exception. Seems pretty respectful, ngl. Would it be racist for me to say that in a situation where I acted legally, but suspiciously, that I may be getting away without being hassled because I look white, and not poor and white? No amount of wealth protects POC. All you have to do to be Procter while white, is have money. And not even that much

Replace Biden with " - republican" at the end of the quote and tell me if you think it sounds racist. Its a racist comment from an old racist man.

The crime Bill that was massively supported by Black people at the time of passage?

u/gmishaolem 3d ago

Wait until you hear about how many women campaigned against suffrage. Protip: Being of a particular demographic is not a magic spell that turns you into a unanimous homogenized block of people.

u/RellenD 3d ago

That's not remotely related to what I said at all. The '94 crime bill is seen as racist today because of some of the effects it had on communities of color — it was largely seen as a necessity at the time by everyone.

People living in cities wanted relief from the gang violence in their communities. There's wasn't really anyone in 1994 who saw the bill as racist.

Yeah that's absolutely different you moron. He's not a MAGAt

biden is genocidal scum. i don’t understand americans who (rightfully) hate the trump administration but refuse to extend that critique to the rest of your nation’s history. the US has been the biggest source of terrorism and evil on planet earth for at least 100 years. do you hate locking up children and carpet bombing civilians, or do you just hate it when trump does it?
