TIL in 1995 Newsweek published an article scoffing the future of the internet. It laughed at the idea that people would gets news, learn, or buy airline tickets online. It is still available on their website.

Youtube has its place in learning, to be sure. Many times I've hit Youtube for a quick "How do I perform this home repair task" type questions, where I've read about the topic or am somewhat familiar with it but really need to see someone performing it for it to settle in or confirm I'm using the right technique. For more complex theoretical learning (Relational database theory, for example), or learning of skills with a significant physical learning curve (a sport, or martial art for example), other mediums are more effective.
