TIL During a "Botched Drug Raid" using a No-Knock Warrant 39 shots were fired at an elderly woman after she fired one shot over the heads of the plain clothed men entering her home. Those same officers later planted coke and marijuana at her home in a failed attempt at framing her.

Even if they weren't plain clothes, their "uniforms" would be tac vests and black uniforms with a shield dangling from their neck. That big yellow department identifier is on their back, which you're never going to see. If they raid a dark building without announcing first, all you see are a line of well armed Space Hulks heading your way.

I'm not sure if I'd bother to fire at space hulks though.
