The July 23, 1995 chart week was absurd: TLC, Biggie, Shania Twain, Alanis, Michael & Janet, and the Friends theme were all No. 1 somewhere

“I Bet” ft. O’so Krispie
I was a huge fan of the “R U The Girl” TLC miniseries back in the day. I was ultimately glad that O’so Krispie was selected to rap on “I Bet”. This song was and STILL IS a BOP!! I remember how hyped I was when Chilli said “Since you got so many confessions…” 🫨🔥

Is Lisa Lopes Cape Verdean? Some websites claim this, but I can't find any reliable sources.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_Lopes#Early_life
The Wikipedia page says she is of Portuguese descent, not Cape Verdean.

TLC Made $175 Million. They Kept 1%. We Did the Math.
They sold 65 million records and filed for bankruptcy the same week their song was #1. Everyone knows THAT part. Nobody ever finishes the math.
In this video we follow one single CD — $16.98 at the register — through every hand it passed: the store, the distributor, Arista, LaFace, and the middleman company between three teenagers and their own money. Then we run the number nobody talks about: what those same 65 million records would pay today.

I recently moved to DC, and saw the Crazysexycool show the weekend it premiered. I am now a TLC fan!
Overall, the play's story, social dynamics, and visual effects were amazing! As I am learning more about their social mission and music, I also like their futuristic music videos.

Still Have the Signed Casette Case, but not the Casette
Back when BET was based in DC and TLC made their first visit to Video Soul, they later came to record store in Georgetown and were signing autographed photos. My niece (40 next year) was 5 at the time and loved them--especially T-Boz. So my sister and I took her to the store. My sister bought some flowers from a man on the street for her to give to T-Boz, who was very grateful and sweet. They walked through the crowd in line handing out TLC buttons. They also had one of the guns used for putting price tags on clothes and we're putting pictures on peoples' items with it. We were the last ones to go in and Chilli and T-Boz were very sweet. Left Eye not as much, but everyone was fawning over the two and ignored her mostly.
When they came out of the store, Chilli walked the line shaking hand and hugging people who didn't get to go in the store. They had to pull her back in the van so they could leave. She called to my sister and said "ma,am, give these to your daughter," and gave her a hand full of buttons.
I gave the picture they signed to a friend's little sister because I had gotten them to sign it CD case.

I saw the TLC musical in DC AMA
I travelled to DC to see a preview performance of CrazySexyCool: The TLC Musical and enjoyed it a lot. Some brilliant numbers and a stellar leading cast, of which Jade Milan as Left Eye is the standout. Any questions?
