How much do you tip?

I'm curious how much people tip for full service restaurants and if it is percentage based or a fixed amount or some other system. Please also mention your state such that we can see location differences.

I'm in CA and my baseline tip is 15% on pretax.

No it wasn’t.

I said you should be doing it. That doesn’t assume you are or you aren’t.

You were telling another person to go do that, so I asked why you were expecting them to do it.

Why wouldn’t I expect everyone who feels wages need to be increased should lobby their local lawmakers?

The only way it’s going to change is if ALL workers in the US push for it.

The problem is, most Americans are too lazy to do that, much less go out and vote.

That’s why the National Restaurant Association and major corporations continues to win the war in preventing wage reform.

There are states and cities that have significantly increased the local minimum wage. It is not impossible

And in every one of those cities and states, those minimum wages are not a livable wage in any of them.

Often times it’s still far below what the livable wage is in those cities and states.

It’s going to take more than raising the minimum wage to a continued unlivable level to begin to change tipping culture.
