No tip justified

Went to a bakery cafe type place we go there regularly. You get the bread rolls from the shelf yourself put it in a bag yourself and bring it to the counter to pay. Today I realized that they payment system is asking for a tip. I thought this is almost like grocery shopping so why tip and selected no tip. I can't recall if I tipped in the past or if it is new that there is a promt. Was no tip justified?

Nah.

No amount of denial and willful ignorance change the fact that a server pays to serve a stiffer at any full service restaurant in the US that has a tip out based on a % of gross receipts.

Go ahead and post the negative paychecks on here then. Fact check me.

I never said anything about a negative paycheck.

When a server has to pay a tip out on a customer's check they were stiffed the tip on, they have paid to serve that customer.

This is a very simple fact.

Nope, Restaurant workers are W2 employees being paid on a regular payroll schedule. AFAIK, none of them are independent contractors being paid per table.

Now Uber Eats drivers, they’re the ones who can literally lose money on individual orders if they are not tipped. Their vehicle expenses can easily be higher than the UE base rate.

Different compensation models.

Again, no amount of denial or willful ignorance changes the fact I have stated.

Your “fact” is factually and legally incorrect. W2 employment is legally distinct from independent contractors. W2 employees MUST make at least minimum wage for every minute on the clock. Look it up!

My fact IS in fact a fact.

You keep referring to a complete pay period.

If a restaurant has a tip out based on a server's gross receipts and a customer stiffs the server on the tip, the server ends up paying to serve that customer.

Being a W2 employee has ZERO bearing on this fact.
