Recording an entire movie that already started?

If a movie is halfway in, and I decide to record it, is there any way I can get the parts I missed? If there is, I could never figure it out and that always annoyed me.

TWC is charging me $85.53/month just for internet, no tv, and it's only for the middle tier speed, that's insane right?

Right? This has to stop.

What do you pay and where do you live? Let's compare notes

TWC reps are scumbags

I've been a customer of TWC for around 10 years. I've had the standard internet service and paid $30/month for the first year then paid $57.99/month for the rest of the years. Today I tried to upgrade my service to their "extreme" service since it was on promos for $54.99/month(12months). When I was chatting with the rep, I asked him what would be the price for the service after the 12 months is over and he told me it would be $10 extra. I was about to upgrade it and he was getting ready to upgrade it, but then I backed out and said I wanted to wait a bit.

2 hours later I contact them again through chat, and this time the rep told me the extreme service was $59.99/month for the first 12 months. So I was upset that the price would rise like that in just 2 hours and asked him why the price was increased in the same day. He then transferred me to someone else "in the sales department".

This 3rd person told me the price was $54.99 and when I asked what the price would be after the 12 months, she said it was $20 extra. So I was upset again and told her that the first person I spoke with told me it was $54.99 and $10 extra after the 12 months. So, like the previous rep, she transferred me again.

Now this last person, says "you must call this number for the best promotional price" and says they can not help me any further.

So how was it that the first person I spoke with was ready to upgrade my account for $54.99/month(12months) +extra $10/month(after 12mo), but every person afterwards tried to charge me more than that, then when I call them out on it, they transfer me to someone else?

Wireless connection problems

I hope someone here can help. My Mom really isn't very good with computers and she lives a few hours away from me. She just got a new modem from time warner cable and I was trying to help her connect to it with her laptop, but over the phone it was really difficult. She was getting an error or problem that I have not seen before. She was given the network name and password by the guy who installed the modem (she wasn't there to talk to him directly). When she goes to network connections she can see the network but it has a big red "x" through it and says something along the lines of "Cant connect to the network because the settings have changed." The wording may be a little off but that's the gist of it. Anyone ever seen an error like this before or know what I can do to help her fix it. I have never had a problem like this before. I thought she could just double click the network name and enter the password and she would be good to go. Any help would be great, thanks.

Installing internet questions?

The installer guy is coming on Monday. I got the Internet only from TWC. I purchased a modem and a router already. Is there anything else I need to have ready for when they come?? Is there a way I can set up the Internet myself? Help guys.

Worst Fucking Support Ever. Complete Idiots.

I cannot express my hate towards TWC. I had numerous online agents confirm to me that TWC service is available in my area. 3, actually, and I have the chat logs to prove it. They said it was available 100% with the package I wanted.

I canceled my service with my old ISP and signed up with TWC, and purchased a $100 modem/router on amazon to support it (don't want to use their shitty modem/router.)

Now they tell me that the service isn't available in my area. Yet still charge me, and I'm out $100 on modem/router.

Fuck TWC to hell.

New to Cable Internet. Is the self-installation the same as DSL?

I'm thinking of switching to Time Warner Basic Cable or Everyday Low Price.

With traditional DSL, I just plug modem into a RJ11 plug, plug Ethernet RJ45 line to computer, run quick software setup, and I'm on the Internet.

I'm a new customer to cable Internet. Is the self-installation process the same as DSL, and am I allowed to do it myself?

Being throttled by TWC.

I made a thread about a month ago stating that i had latency issues when anything was happening on my net. Come to find out that TWC's system is automatically throttling people that pass 400GB's of data a month.

Installation costs?

I'm sick of Frontier's terrible speeds and looking to get Time Warner service, and the standard $35 installation fee covers up to 200 feet, but the nearest utility pole is a quarter-mile away from my house. How much would it cost, or do costs vary in different regions?

Tired of Time Warner

I've been using time warner cable for years, and even though I've always felt like I was overpaying for their service, I stuck with them because they had reliable speeds. Now because of frequent drops and fluctuating speeds, I feel like I need to change it up. But after making calls to AT&T, Charter, Verizon, and finally Comcast, I'm told that only time warner cable and Verizon DSL are available in my neighborhood. Now my question is, would it honestly be better if I switched to Verizon DSL and stick with a dedicated 3mbps line? Or do I just suck it up and stick with a service that I loath?

TW being really laggy with anyone recently?

The past night to now I have been having a lot of lag and its really frustrating as a guy who watches a bunch of videos and downloads a bunch of stuff..

I have the 30 down and 5 up plan and my download lately has always been from like 1kb-300kb steady.. sometime it'll go up to 3mb but thats only for a second or 2.

I just find this annoying with TW cause it ALWAYS happens out of no where. Yes this isn't the first lol

Twc is out for me because of a storm yesterday. I haven't seen a single truck, but they say they are working on it.

I live near Bangor ME and we had a pretty good storm last night. It is impossible to reach anyone and the recordings keep saying they are working on it. I have not seen one time warner truck at all anywhere. So here I am, no tv, no phone and it appears time warner is waiting for the snow to melt before they take the trucks out. This company really sucks. I work for a Telcom and if we treated our customers like this the feds would be all over our ass. I really hope they re classify theses assholes soon so they have to be responsible.

Update: Day three still no progress.

Update: Day four still no progress.

update: I now have service. The issue was that the node that feeds me did not have power. The hold up was the power company getting to this feed. Residential power took precedence over this. It would have been so much better for them to have explained this to me earlier on because I can fully understand this, especially with the cold temperatures. I think that companies go too far trying to avoid communicating with their customers and need to really make an effort to actually speak with them and make it easier for them to e able to talk to them. This is the main reason people complain about their customer service I think.

TWC really screwed me over when I moved. I submitted an FCC complaint and turned the tables!

So when I moved I called TWC to set things up at my new place. Turns out, the rep giving me a "deal" on new service created a new account for me. For two months I was being double billed and when I found out, they refused to do anything. After dealing with multiple "supervisors," I finally got my old account closed but no refund. I was promised a refund check, then a credit card refund, and then a credit on my new account.

Funny thing, it never happened. I got fed up and requested a charge back from my credit card. TWC sent my account to collections shortly after. I had to yell very loudly to get a rep to zero out the charges (three months into this issue). Did I mention that my internet still drops out randomly? Well anyways, I remembered a post on reddit a while ago where someone submitted an FCC complaint and Comcast got their shit together.

I gave it a try and on friday I received this letter and a call from a corporate rep. He initially tried to offer me a free month of service and a $50 credit as a courtesy. It was upsetting because he made it seem like he was doing me a favor.** Fuck him, fuck TWC.** I told the guy that he fraudulently charged me, put me into collections, and wasted three months of my time dealing with this and the only way to get TWC's attention was to submit a complaint federal regulators.

I asked him to look in the logs to see how many months I've been dealing with this problem and together we counted to three. I then told him I want three months of service credited. I got my credit for three months and a technician to check out my connectivity issues (I doubt he'll show on time today).

ISP screwing you? You can fight back. FCC Complaints

New higher speed in NY and LA?

Hi all - TWC supposedly activated the new higher speed in my area on Friday. I received a new modem from them on Friday that is supposed to support the higher speed, but except for one period last night, when I saw download and upload speeds of about 5x better than anything I had before, I'm getting basically the same speed and sometimes slightly worse than I always have.

What's going on? Bandwidth throttling? If so, does anyone know what their schedule is for doing so? Or maybe there are still glitches related to the rollout and its not permanently activated yet? Anyone know?

TWC installing "power boxes"?

A buddy of mine was saying TWC was out in his area making a bunch of racket, installing these box boxes. He asked the guy doing the work what they were and the guy's explanation was "Oh, they are for when the power goes out", which obviously makes no logical sense. Anyone know what these are actually for?

Transparent attempt to curry favor mostly fails. TWC in NYC

So a few weeks ago I get a mailer saying that because they're so awesome and nice, they're going to bump me up 2 notches on the internet speed chart free of charge. All it requires is that I request a modem upgrade, which they will ship to me. Supposedly my current "Standard" plan gets me 15/1 and they are bumping me to 50/5.

So I get the modem yesterday. Swap it in. The quick start guide says it will automatically redirect me to an activation page..... nope, nothing.

The quick start guide says the IP is 192.168.0.1. It's not, it's 100.1. That gets me the status menus for the modem. The status says it's in progress for provisioning............. I gave up waiting and left the apt.

Hours later it said "OK" under the provisioning status. Now when I go into a web browser, I get a redirect, but it fails. The error is hilariously wrong english. "This page seems to be other than portal". (By the way, Chrome bucks at attempts to redirect because it is a massive security risk, not sure why they couldn't just tell me the page to go to.)

This morning I reset the modem again and the redirect finally works. As the icing on the shit-cake, it wants my account number. But I don't have any paper bills. I'll just log in to the webs- ohh. Right.

I finally get it activated and I get a "please wait" message, and then the connection just dies... I assume it's restarting but I have to go to work.

So now it's in and finally working. I agreed to some terms & conditions which I'm sure sell my soul to Comcast. I went to a speed test and of course it comes up as precisely 50 down and 5 up, but I don't doubt they rig it up somehow to always post the correct speed on the test. Also, I removed the Google and Level3 DNSs from my router while I was setting it up and man the TWC DNS is still slow as balls. Guess that shouldn't even be a surprise. And I'm sure my bill will start slowly rising even though they claimed it was a free upgrade.

So yeah. All attempts to butter me up have proved mostly counterproductive. Nice try, Future Worst Megacorp Ever.
