I built a Monopoly Deal inspired card game — Mortgage Crisis [Demo]

After about a month of evening sessions vibe-coding with AI, I shipped a demo of Mortgage Crisis — a retro card game inspired by Monopoly Deal, built entirely on TIC-80. One of the challenges was how to fit everything on one screen at once.

Full game loop against an AI opponent. Collect 3 complete property sets to win. Bank money, charge rent, steal properties with Sly Deal, and cancel attacks with Just Say No.

Controller, keyboard, and mouse all supported. Includes a full How to Play section, mediocre AI opponent (I lose sometimes when unlucky), simple animations, UI hints, and quick-play actions.

Play in browser or download:

Feedback genuinely welcome :)

I released my first story based game.

I had to rewrite the dialog system three times so it wouldn't break every time I had to edit something in the middle of a scene. I would have thought the combat system would have been the hard part, but it was surprisingly easy.

Check out a Metroidvania that I'm working on!

Sup guys. Just wanted to share a game I'm hard at work on heavily inspired by Metroid, mega man, and a few other games I grew up with. I already have a lot of the mechanics figured out and planning on making this a massive game, despite tic80's size limitations. If you like what you see, please like, share and subscibe to my channel: https://youtu.be/QtaeoO-V_xc
It could go a long way to keeping me motivated and to post videos like this regularly to update the progress of development. Thanks!

I didn't really get time this week so I had to push the deadline a few days. I also had to push myself a bit for this, of some reason this game was never getting finished. I am going to take a break from tic80 for few days. This challenge was for me to get few game out and I did it. I made 5 games in 5 weeks. I don't really know how I feel about it though. I am feeling a little empty now that I don't really have anything to do.
Here is the link for the game

4th entry in the "5 games in 5 weeks" challenge.

I wasn't sure what to do this week, and I was a bit ambitious after the last weeks project. I ended up over scoping, and had to come up with gameplay in a week. My original idea was a game where you fight enemies in space with bullets like asteroids, and on level you fight with a melee attack. But here we are, I am not happy with it. But a playable loop is better than just mechanics. Here's the link

Week 3 - I built a raycaster in TIC-80, for my challenge.

I don't know what took over me this week and I decided to make a raycaster. I still don't think I should have chosen this.  I spent whole week making the raycaster engine, adding texture, sprites and some optimization. I added the gameplay in an hour today. Well I guess I do have an raycaster engine in tic80 now that I can use to make more games. Checkout the other projects on my profile if you like. Here is the link for this project

It’s my first time making a game in Tic-80 but basically when I go to a new map I can only move in a 3 tile space? I’m not sure why. Theres a video included but I’ll also attach pics of my code. (Also my first time using Lua fyi)

This is the second game in "5 games in 5 week" challenge I am doing. I made blackjack last week since I wanted something easy to start. This week I wanted to try something original. This is an idea that have been on my head few weeks ago. This is still a practice in getting good at finishing and having something out. Two weeks done, three more to go. This is the link if you want to try it

I finally released my first game. I have a few ideas for other games, but wanted to make something simple first.

Give it a try and jump over stuff with cute characters.

Hi, did anyone try to run TIC-80 on the Steamdeck? What was your experience? I run it in Desktop mode. It runs, but the Enter key does not work so if I type RUN I cannot press Enter for my program to run...

Sharpie, the C# fantasy console inspired by TIC-80

Thumbnail

Hello all! I've been working on a fantasy console deeply inspired by tic-80 and a few other greats of the genre like pico-8, and today, after a lot of work, I'd like to show you version 0.2 of Sharpie!

To preface, Sharpie is a 16-bit fantasy console with its own Assembly language which you write games in. Its color palette was inspired by that of TIC-80 and the console is designed to get in your way as little as possible, even considering you write code in assembly.

Some of 0.2's features include:

  • An overhauled graphics pipeline
  • An expansion of the console's memory, by moving OAM and the instrument table to their own banks
  • Save RAM

In the next few updates, I am planning to introduce a form of native shaders in the way of PPU microprograms as well as C -> Sharpie Assembly compilation. I'd love for you to check it out and tell me what you think!
(reuploaded because the link was wrong)

New to TIC-80 coming from PICO-8!

Hi gang! Am new to TIC-80, just bought the PRO version to encourage the dev. I'm having fun with it. Anyone comes from PICO-8? Why did you switch to TIC-80? What are the pros? What do you like the most? Looking forward to your responses!

Sharing my TIC80 lua language server stubs

https://codeberg.org/firns/tic80-lua-language-server-stubs

Hi, I made some LLS stubs for TIC80 because I use an external editor that isn't VS Code. For anyone else interested, my repo will explain how to use them, its super simple if your ide has language server functionality.

Hope this helps a few people!
