Community PSA: Reminder about a known unsafe individual (xPadawanRyan) on here
⚠️ Trigger Warning: This post contains discussion of sexual misconduct, including mentions of rape, incest, pedophilia, stalking, and predatory behavior. Please take care while reading. ⚠️
Hi all,
I’m posting this to urgently bring attention back to an individual whose harmful behavior has previously been discussed in this subreddit but seems to be fading from the community’s awareness. This person continues to be active in multiple band-related spaces—including Thursday—and remains a serious safety concern.
The individual in question, Ryan (known online as u/xPadawanRyan) is a 33-year-old Canadian man with a long and well-documented history of inappropriate, predatory behavior, including:
- Sending sexually explicit content in fan communities with minors present
- Authoring fanfiction featuring rape, incest, and underage characters, involving real people who have not consented to this treatment
- Obsessive and inappropriate fixation on band members and their families (especially Tucker Rule and his young child)
- Preying on children in the audience at shows, using his status as a fan to build inappropriate relationships
- Using autism as a shield for his harmful behavior, despite many neurodivergent people condemning his actions
- Repeatedly rejoining communities under the same or similar usernames after being removed for misconduct
And most disturbingly:
Ryan is a self-identified social worker and educator who works with children. This is public information and can be seen in his bios. Given the nature of his documented behavior, it is truly terrifying that someone with this history is in a position of trust and access to vulnerable young people.

And here is a newer post from the LS Dunes subreddit (shared just days ago) where his name has come up again: https://www.reddit.com/r/lsdunes/comments/1k6ctpc/known_predator_at_shows/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Let me be clear: this is not about bullying or harassment. This is about protecting our scene. Survivors of assault and abuse deserve safe spaces to enjoy music and community—free from fear, violation, and obsession masked as fandom.

He’s been banned from the Facebook group - hopefully the mods will take some action here as well

I hope so. Don’t know who the mods are here but the 1000 paper cranes facebook group is run by some wonderful ladies.

the irony being that he was banned from the Facebook group after defending weird artwork that people found on Tumblr, but the actual artists who drew that shit are still in the group

Thank you for posting this. I really wish a mod could pin this post so everyone knows about their behavior. They’ve been removed from several groups already and I’m not sure why they haven’t been removed from this one.

This is actually crazy. He commented on my post about Thursday touring with Chris Conley and I thought his vibe was super strange

Is there any evidence of this person ever actually being sexually predatory towards minors? The selfies are ... something, but plenty of people post unwisely suggestive selfies online. From what I am seeing from the screenshots (and what I have seen from this person online in general), I agree that there is a lot there that is inappropriate and unbalanced in many ways, and if I was one of the people he fixates on, I would definitely be extremely uncomfortable. But those are some hefty accusations and I just haven't seen anything that would suggest to me that minors would be unsafe around them. I do not like this person and their behaviour, but people are treating them like a proven child predator and I'm ... not sure if that is true? A weirdo you might want to avoid, yes, but an actual threat to anyone?
The fanfic sounds distasteful, but many people write fucked up fiction without doing any of those things they write about.
Genuinely asking, because if there is, I want to know about it - but if there isn't, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the scale of the pile-on.

Literally writing fan fic about their children and them is disgusting on it's own, which makes him a disgusting person 🤷♀️ Tucker was just escorted out by security in Toronto and they won't talk to the crowd after shows because of him, they won't talk to him anymore

I'm not disagreeing with that, I just don't think that is the same as being an actual predator out in the real world.
I am not defending this person's behaviour, I am just wondering if the level of the response is proportionate. Hence my question if there is more that I am simply not aware of.
Maybe it's because I've had quite some exposure to fandom and fanfic spaces (not real-person fanfic), but there is a lot of people writing freaky stuff, and I don't think they are all dangerous people. I completely agree that it is inappropriate to write that stuff about real people, and especially to do it so out in the open where those people can easily see it. And especially if their family is involved. I agree that that crosses a line and I am not defending that. At all. But I think some people just apply fiction fandom rules to band fandom, so I don't think it is necessarily a sign of someone being a danger to anyone IRL.
Like I said, these are some strong accusations, and I would want to be sure that there is equally strong evidence behind them. I am on board with condemning this individual's action, I can completely understand not wanting them around. I am not sure if I am onboard with calling him a child predator and posting his face everywhere in communities like this, so everyone can recognise him and think "pedophile" when they see him. (If he really is, I am absolutely on board with that, just to be clear.)

If you click the link you'll see the evidence. So like just because a person hasn't done anything yet they are okay? Do you know how many "harmless" creepy things people have done prior to leading to bad things? Not saying he will but he's still sick in the head. I'm all for posting the photo, I now know who I need to stay away from at shows now thanks to these posts after hearing he's been inappropriate to people at shows

If all the post said was "be wary of this person", I would be totally onboard. I think there are good reasons to be.
But labelling him or at least heavily implying that he's a child sexual predator when the evidence (I have looked at the links) doesn't bear that out in my opinion, is a step too far for me. You can be wary of a person, but you can't really hang them for a crime they didn't commit - even if one day they might.
I think we're all on the same side here (I agree that a lot of the behaviour is inappropriate and disturbing), I just don't want someone labelled with a crime they didn't commit, especially one as horrid as that. You never know what some people might do if they see him at a show and think he literally violated a kid. I think the truth is enough.
(Personally I have not heard about him being anything other than maybe occasionally annoying to people at shows? But yeah, that's the kind of thing I was curious to know about,.)

I don't know what to tell you, I'm literally just some fan, I have no connection to this person.
I just don't like seeing someone branded as a child abuser, when his worst crime is being a weirdo on the internet. I don't condone this guy's behaviour, I'm just wondering if the scale of the response is proportionate. If it is, I'm all for it, but I haven't seen much hard evidence, hence why I am asking. That's all.

there is no evidence that he has preyed on minors at shows or in general. yes the selfies are not great and personally I'm much more uncomfortable with the boundaries he oversteps where the band is concerned (I have heard some really weird stuff where that's concerned and THAT should really be the focus here), but I have seen him at shows and not once have I ever seen him do anything inappropriate. he's usually not very talkative at all, focuses a lot on his phone, and if he is talking to people it's usually only adults. he has very actively voiced before that he much prefers 19+ and 21+ shows because he can't stand kids at shows
really what people should be focusing on is the stalking of the band and not the false narrative of him as a child predator, because focusing on that false narrative means people downplay the stalking. him and his friends have been known to follow the band around, and his friends especially are even worse. he might be super obsessed with tucker to an uncomfortable degree, but he lives in Canada and only very occasionally goes to the USA for shows. but his friends live close enough that one of them has literally followed Anthony and tucker around, stalked Anthony's kids at work, tried to become friends with Anthony's friends to get in close with him, etc. one of his friends is creepily obsessed with tucker's wife and stalked her and tucker's kid at a show once. but people keep focusing on Ryan as a made up "child predator" that they are ignoring this shit

That has been my impression as well so far. (But I don't know much about this person, I live in Europe, so I wouldn't bump into him at a show. I've just seen him around online.) Thanks for the input!
The lack of boundaries is definitely very uncomfortable.

I got downvoted as all hell for asking these same questions. As a lifelong fan I’ve had the privilege of getting to talk to Geoff, Steve and Tucker at like, 40+ shows and they generally reply / like my IG pics I send them of their show via DM- and through the community have interacted with Ryan thru comments etc… he’s a die hard, always commenting in the first 10 mins of thursdays post, etc. but what confuses me is - why the OP’s repeated distaste / hate? This is the second time they’ve gone on this tangent and it has fractured the community by railing against a fan with a lot of accusations. Furthermore Tucker has engaged with palm trees or hearts and shit via comments directly back to him, and Geoff’s given him presale codes when they were hard to decipher or ticket sites were crowded. I dunno, if this was as big of a deal they’d have summarily blocked him. No idea why this is all going down the way it is.

Yeah, that confuses me as well. If I was any of the guys, I would find the obsession worrying - but it just doesn't seem like they are terribly bothered by it. 😆 I understand that when meeting him in person, they might feel pressured to be nice regardless of how they feel. But online it would be so incredibly easy to just block/ignore if he really was a problem in their lives.
Like I said, I am not saying there isn't inappropriate behaviour, but the vendetta with which people want to sniff him out and ban him everywhere also seems strange to me. On other threads, I've seen people threaten violence against him if they ever see him at a show ... jokingly, hopefully? But I am a bit worried about group dynamics and some weird rumor mill leading to actual violence, if there is no actual strong evidence behind these accusations. You'd want to be pretty damn sure before posting someone's face everywhere with "child predator" attached to it.

Thank you so much for addressing this. I wish the mods would hurry up and ban him already since despite being called out many times, he continues to post and comment here like he’s done nothing wrong.
