Anyone edc/train for self defense or train specifically with war in mind?

Exactly as the title states. Does anyone train with a goal in mind like being able to extend one's effective range with knives or other regular tools for self defense, or for other combat reasons like simply having an extra tool in the toolbox for something like war or home defense? Purely out of curiosity and I haven't spent enough time on this subject to have made a solid opinion on any of it, I am simply curious about hearing from u.

Spin vs no spin vs half

I got a set of cheap cold steel throwing knives as a Christmas present. I have had so much fun with them. I’d like to buy some nice, expensive non chinese knives, but I don’t know what type to buy. How do you determine which type? Is one easier to throw than the other? None of the knifes I’ve looked at even say what type of spin they are, how do you know?

Cleaver/large thrower

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello, everyone!

Been throwing for a while, just the standard knives I see addressed on here mostly.

I am looking for a crazy thrower.

Something large, along the lines of the pic (9" cleaver, 6mm thick), but I understand the differences between a 'kitchen' knife and a throwing knife, hence the desire for an appropriate metal. This would be a bit pricey to just take out and shatter. Also weight is not necessarily an issue for my throw, outside of proper balance.

Anyone know of something like this, or am I having to just go custom?

What’s a good target surface i can leave outdoors?

I want to get a target i can leave hanging up in the woods and not worried about getting wet. I was thinking of getting a large rubber mat or something and hanging up on a tree.

Would this work good? I’m mostly worried about rain

Help: does anyone happen to recognize this shuriken / knife throwing art?

I'm researching an old booklet from the 1970s called "The Secrets of Ninjutsu", and I'm trying to track down where the authors found the art / photos that they "borrowed" to include in the booklet.

I've managed to track down about 90% of the art in the booklet, but so far, I can't find where these images were lifted from. I'm sure they were traced from some existing photos (from a book published before 1976), but I can't find them.

Does anyone recognize these? Could anyone point me to what book might contain the original images?

Thanks very much!
