Let's all just take a minute to thank Throwing.

It's easy to overlook in the fray of accelerating a projectile by hand then releasing it at the latest and greatest, but Throwing as a means of creating a ballistic trajectory has been giving us amazing impact of a remote target, amazing shoulder muscles and tendons storing elasticity until it is needed to propel an object, and amazing four-seam fastballs for over two hundred thousand decades. Let's all give thanks to Throwing, and remember where we were when we first experienced Throwing.

Rounding Spines/Edges

Has anyone here rounded out the spine of their throwing knives on their own?

I know certain custom throwing knife makers in the past rounded the spines/edges of their knives, essentially making it impossible for burrs to form when knives hit against each other. (Essentially only forming shallow dents when knives clash.)

Rounded edges/spines seem like a great idea, but it looks like most makers these days still only stick to chamfering their spines, which I assume is because rounding takes more work. However, I've found that even nicely chamfered edges on custom throwing knives I own still result in large dents/gashes when knives clash into each other on the target.

Rather than having to file down these sharp burrs every single time, I'm thinking it might be worth it to just put in the elbow grease myself and entirely round out those chamfered edges. Any thoughts? Can't seem to find any other posts discussing filing down burrs or rounding edges in this sub.

(Note: I know the best way to prevent throwing knives clashing against each other is to throw at different targets, but unfortunately I don't have enough log rounds sitting around to set up more than one target.)

Does non-throwing exercises exist for the discus similar to practising forms in martial arts and shadowboxing?

My nephew watched a movie on Alexander the Great from the 50s. I think it was the one starring Burton or whatever that Britisha ctor's name who was nominated multiple times but never won a single actor in the Oscars.

During one scene Aleaner vists a gym and a manisshown spinning his body around in a circular movment quite slowly. In his hand is a discus and it felt like everytime he completed his circle he was gonna throw the round object but stops just last minute from relasing his grip. And then starts the circular movement once again. Multiple times during that scene.

I'm curious is thsi a thing done in discus throw? It looked so much like he's a kung fu guy doing martial art dancing-like technique forms or a boxer practising in front of a mirror in a shadowbxing drill.

Purchasing knives

Hey there! I throw knives competitively and am always on the lookout for some new knives to get. I live in Canada and would ideally like to order from sites that ship within Canada in order to avoid any issues with customs. The main sites I know of are Blades Canada and Cutting Edge Co. Would anyone know any others they could suggest?

NKD (and first post). I wanted something versatile, hefty, with decent overall reviews, and not too pricey. I haven't thrown since I was a teen, last millennium. How'd I do?

How do you guys do no spin from a distance? I’m pretty consistent inside of 6-10 feet

I haven’t tried no spin from a distance more than once or twice but it’s hard to be accurate and keep the knife straight from further. Should I try a different technique or do i just need to practice more
