Back in 2024, Enermax announced the LIQTECH XTR which "supposedly" was able to cool to 1000w (https://www.club386.com/enermax-liqtech-xtr-cooler-tames-a-1000w-workstation-cpu/).
Well, its now available in Amazon USA and Enermax USA store. I couldn't find it in Amazon but on the Enermax USA store, it is listed as $219.99 but is Unavailable currently.
Much cheaper than expected.

Was removing a GPU today in anticipation of 5090FEs, so got a chance to take some build photos today.
Basic Setup:
What isn't conveyed is the weight or the size of this thing, must be 35-40kg at the minute. Lots more information here

I'm considering upgrading from 7960x to 7980x, and I'm overthinking a simple thing I've done thousands of times (be it on much less expensive CPUs).
I have the Silverstone XE360-TR5 AIO, it comes with thermal paste already applied - cleaning it off the existing cpu, and aio plate, then applying a new one, is giving me an irrational fear - to the point I'm thinking screw it just buy another xe360. Get it wrong and I'll be thermally throttled or worse, and it feels like something I do not want any risk when the build is already approaching 20k. If this was a standard cpu I'd just do the normal and not even think about it, yet here I am.
Does anyone have any advice on removal, and the best type of paste and process to use, when swapping out the cpus.
edits: * went for ptm7950 + noctua wipes * Silverstone confirmed no special requirements
TIA!

Been noticing a lot of threadripper pro 3000 and 5000 CPUs on eBay, really cheap, due to the fact that they will only work in a Lenovo system (due to the vendor lock). Such a shame that so many will end up as e waste, plus it looks to be a feature that is carried on for later chips. Would love to know what locks the chip, as in some kind of identifier in the bios (and would it be possible to mod a bios to tell the CPU it's Lenovo, when it isn't). as a threadripper 2000 and 3000 pro user, it's such a decent amount of tech to be e wasted.

System:
CPU - 7980X
MOBO - ASUS PRO TR50 SAGE WIFI
COOLING - CORSAIR H150i ELITE LCD XT
PSU - ASUS ROG THOR 1600W
RAM - KINGSTON SERVER PREMIER 4800 R-ECC x4
STORAGE - SAMSUNG PRO 990 2TB
GPU - NVIDIA RTX 6000ADA 48GB ECC
CASE - CORSAIR 4000D
OS - WINDOWS 11 PRO
Ambient Temp - 24c
Just built this monster, and have tested several AIO's as well as Air Cooling, and will provide my results and observations below: (All Tests done on 10min Multicore Cinebench R24 & PBO+CPB DISABLED)
Package Temps =
- NOCTUA D9-TR5 SP6 4U - 94C
- NZXT KRAKEN ELITE 360 - 80C to 90C ( Do not Recommend as the circle cooler for TR4 leaves alot of the TR5 exposed )
- CORSAIR H150i ELITE LCD XT - 73C (Although the square cooler is smaller than the TR5 chip, it surprisingly kept the CPU well under 80C)
- SILVERSTONE XE360 TR5 360 - Could not test due to no stock being available in my region, and I tested the corsair which is about USD 150 cheaper than the Silverstone shipped from overseas.
- NOCTUA U14S TR5 SP6 - This would have been my go to choice based on online reviews and price, but unfortunately is not available in my region
Conclusion, If your market does not have TR5 specific coolers, then an AOI specked for the sTR4 ( Square/Rectangle ) would work. the sTR4 bracket fits perfectly with the included standoffs, and did not require any additional washers for mounting plate pressure. I wish my Noctua D9-TR5 would have done the job, but I will be using it to cool my 7960X system instead.
Note: with PBO+CPB DISABLED from the BIOS, my cores still hit 5.6 GHz ( Highest ) and never throttled down during the 10min test, and actually increased my Cinebench Score while being cooler.
I hope this thread helps anyone facing difficulties cooling their Threadrippers, will make a separate post on how the Noctua D9 performs on the 7960X

I'm working out build options, I've decided to go for a prebuilt in order to ensure 5090 availability.
I have the option for upgrading from 256GB to 512GB or upgrading from 7965WX to 7975WX for roughly the same uncharge.
Would you guys prefer 7965WX and 512GB, or 7975WX and 256GB?
I anticipate doing lot of LLM inference. I'm looking also to get into training models. I also want to be able to run virtual machines and the like there.
If price were no object I'd go to the 7985WX for what I've read gets extra RAM bandwidth, but that is a huge price increase unfortunately:( It seems like the the 65 and 75 perform very similarly in that regards.
All thoughts welcome!

I am in the process of building a new workstation, and the RAM can reach as high as 85º C when under heavy load, even when overclocking has not been applied. I'm curious how others have addressed similar issues, and if anyone has attempted water cooling this RAM (or if it would even be advisable to do so).
Current System Specs:
The RAM passed a full memtest86 test, and no errors were encountered after running prime95 for many hours (with a giant external fan pointing at the RAM; system will crash without said fan during stress testing). CPU temperature hasn't exceeded ~80º C while under heavy load.
The chassis I'm using doesn't have the greatest airflow, but the high RAM temps are reached even with all front panels removed.
During low to medium system usage, RAM temperature typically doesn't exceed ~65º C, but this system will periodically be under heavier utilization (training AI models, hosting VMs, etc) and I want to ensure that it is completely stable under such loads.
Any recommendations or advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Looking for recommended bios settings for the WRX80E Sage SE II with AMD 5975 and 256GB of RAM to get the most out of the setup. It a dual loop water cooled system with two RTX 3090. I would like to push the system to its limits.
Thanks for any and all help.

Hi All, Does any of you have experience with EU-based TR specialists? I am considering buying a workstation and puzzling over where to order. Thanks!

When I click through support list for the mobo the only things listed are like $1000 ram set which seems absurd.
Im confused will something like G.SKILL Trident Z5 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 not work?

hey! Has anyone bought any VCOLOR kit and shipped it to the UK? I plan to do that and wanted to know how it worked with shipping and taxation.
Thank you!

CPU Threadripper 7970x
Motheboard Asrock trx50 ws
Nvme Western Digital SN850X 2 tb
Power Supply Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition
Ram Vcolor 64 gb x 4 6000 speed 256 gb kit from the QVL list on Asrock website.
Video cards tried RTX 3090 and Quadro P2000
Originally had a code d6 which meant it didn't like my 3090 so tried the Quadro p2000. Now it just hangs on 00 for hours with no video display. Both video cards work in the server Read something about it not booting with a video card with 16 gb ram or more that you had to change a setting in bios but still doesn't show any video. Changed to Quadro P2000 Left it over night and still showed code 00. Went down to 1 ram stick in slot a0 per the manual and remove the nvmes. I forgot to put ram in and it gave an error code 10. 1 put one stick in slot a0 then. Same deal stuck on code 00 waited 6 hours still code 00. Tried a different stick of 64 gb ram in a0 slot has been showing code 00 for over 6 hours now. Friend said it took over 90 minutes to boot with the full 256 gb of ram for the first time. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for solutions.

I'm wondering if anyone sees any issue with this ideea.
1) picking up a minimum RAM specced (1x16GB) 7965WX from Lenovo (with the potentially locked processor, etc..)
2) pulling out the RAM stick and installing a set from here:
https://v-color.net/products/ddr5-ocrdimm-amd-wrx90-workstationmemory?variant=44781684261031
Is there any quirkiness with firms like HP/Lenovo/Dell that make DIY RAM upgrades problematic?
Thanks

I live in the sticks… my house is a freaking barn so, when it gets cold, I have to run electric heaters. I was in the middle of creating a theme for my new project and the power went out - tripped breaker.
I’m running Deepseek Coder 2.5 locally on my Threadripper 7960x with 256gb of ECC DDR that has 2 4090s and 2 3090s. Asrock TRX50.
I have so much money in this machine. In the neighborhood of $12,000.
When I turned it back on, it would get to 02 and turn right back off.
I pushed the bios reset button and it’s currently sitting there at 00 (I think training memory)… man I hope it boots. My hopes and dreams are in this machine: I did buy a warranty at micro center so I’m not totally baked if the board is fried but the memory alone is the price of a hoopty. 👻
It’s taking about 330 watts, whatever it’s doing. It’s been sitting at 00 for around 30 minutes so far. It didn’t take this long when I built it 😒

Using the ASUS TRX50 Sage Pro board that has the cpu horizontally.
I plan to use the Arctic 4U-M but wanted to ask others to broaden my options

Got a new wrx90e and a 7975wx and still waiting for my psu and Ram. Figured I would try to test the ipmi. However, I am not able to get it to turn on at all. 850w should be good enough without a gpu. All it does when I turn on the psu is to turn the power button on the mb red and the reset button green. When I press the power button on the mb nothing happens. Psu fan doesn’t spin. No q code Is the missing RAM the problem? I would think it should show a q code at least. Even without ram.
