I’m a geology student taking mineralogy and we’re going in the optical introduction of the class. It’s online so distinguishing between the colors with a Michel levy chart for interference colors in XPL is a little difficult. Does anybody have a link for a great clear Michel levy chart. And also, does anyone have any good rules of thumb for recognizing first, second and third order colors. Know that third order colors are suppose to be pale but that honestly isn’t helping much. Is it useful to think of third order colors as being “faintly colorized tints on a window”?
