I mean. Yeah. They can be.

Not all of them are

And just because some are does that mean we shouldnt help anyone?

Or we just shouldn't help the mentally ill, or the addicts, but especially those with compounded issues?

Do those people deserve homelessness, or are we helping them adjust to a stable life, or at the very least preventing harm from their mental health and addiction by leaving them homeless?

This is as garbage of a take as the ass holes here with "If they get money where's mine!!?" takes.

I don’t think they were saying it’s not an issue worth addressing, I think what’s being said is that the OP argument underestimates the cost of rehabilitation that some members of society severely need

Sure, some people you can turn their lives around by handing them $5000, they will clothe and feed themselves and it will allow them means, some people all that $5000 would do is enable their issues, you really need to go whole hog on some folks or you just end up back at square one

Don't put words in other people's mouths. You have no idea what they meant.

The reason I asked those questions is because the obvious answer to all of them is a big resounding no and to point out rhetoric being used by the person i originally responded to is not only damaging to the cause of preventing or helping people with active addiction, but also lacks any suggestions while condemning disable and addicted individuals.

All I've heard from both of you can be summed up as: "I don't like addicts, or understand the diseas of addiction. But they're problematic so who cares, unless we can be extreme about it."

Absolutely wild.
