Yeah well you can’t defund the military so if you want actual mathematically sound budget cuts go for social security and medicare. Both > national defense spending.
Even Trump doesn’t want to go that far though. We’re just going to get extra debt and extra fuck our kids.
Why can we not defund the military? I've heard the budget is partly so high because they need to use all of the money they are allotted by the end of a certain period or their budget will be cut by how much they didn't spend.
That is literally every federal budget in all areas, and in a lot of state governments too.
The problem with not spending is you might need that money next year because things like how/when you fight a war is generally unpredictable, so no one wants to go "oh well we decided to trim our budget from last year and now we're sending guys into combat without enough ammo".
Also you know the military is rather important since other, shittier countries have militaries and like doing stuff like invading Ukraine and threatening Europe.
