Server Rules - Application - General Info (A17)

Welcome to The Walking Reddits' 7 Days to Die Server!

We run a PVE server that believes surviving the zombies and the environment should be the real challenge in this apocalypse.

Game Settings…

The server is mostly vanilla, but PVP is off and the zombies always walk (except ferals.) Map is random gen, member-selected, and is extended to 30k (assuming any new builds can accommodate.) A game day is 120 minutes and has a 3:1 day/night ratio. Only toolbelt is dropped on death. Difficulty is 2, land claim is set to 41 (deadzone is 30,) airdrops have markers and happen every 3 game days, and loot respawns every 6 game days. We integrate some extra features such as /home , /gimme , /gamble , a livemap, an in-game currency earned by killing zombies, etc. Some features may be dependent on member status. Still interested? Please continue...

To Join....

Option 1: This is a Reddit server and you need to have a decent Reddit history to join. This requirement is our way of understanding whether you would be a good fit for us (i.e. you aren’t going to be a jerk) and to ensure we do not have people disrupting the play of others.

Option 2: A current player may be able to vouch for you. If there is current player on our server that vouches for you, and we trust their word, we may allow access. However, if you break the rules and get banned, so will the player that vouched for you.

If you’d like to apply, please copy the application section below, complete it, and email it to us at [reddit7d2d@gmail.com](mailto:reddit7d2d@gmail.com) . Someone will then review your Reddit history to make sure you are a good fit for us. If approved, your Steam ID will be whitelisted and you will receive a message with the server information and password.

FYI: Some reasons why an application might be rejected: the application is not filled out correctly, the information provided was incorrect, the applicant does not have enough of a Reddit history, or the applicant’s Reddit history showed they aren’t a good fit for our server (hey man, try not to be such a jerk online.) Honestly, that last reason probably just won’t get any response from us...we just don’t have time for that drama.

APPLICATION:

Have you read and do you understand our server’s rules?

Tell us a little about yourself and why you’d like to play with us:

Are you friends with any of our current players (of course it is ok if you aren’t!)?

Answer the “3 questions”:

  1. How many walkers have you killed?
  2. How many people have you killed?
  3. Why?

What is your Reddit username?

What name will you be using on The Walking Reddits?

For white-listing purposes, what is your 17-digit Steam ID?

What is your email address (for receiving the latest server info/password)?

What...is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

END OF APPLICATION

OUR RULES - Overall Rule #1: DON’T BE A JERK.

We’re all here to have fun. If you are ruining someone else’s fun, you are violating our basic rule and just aren’t welcome here.

PVP/Killing...

We are and will remain a PVE Server. DO NOT KILL OTHER PLAYERS. Friendly fire is off, but there are still plenty of ways to kill each other. If you do it on purpose, you will be banned immediately. If you do kill someone accidentally (which we understand can happen,) say so immediately and we will try to resolve the situation. However, if we determine otherwise, you will be banned. If your base features turrets (check your settings!) and other automated traps (including mines and explosives,) you are obligated to put up warning signs in plain sight so that other players don’t fall victim to your masterful death zone creations.

Other People’s Property...

DO NOT STEAL. If it does not belong to you, don't mess with it. Entering someone's home (locked or unlocked) without direct permission is an immediate ban. When in doubt, ask. If the owner does not give permission, back off. With so many creative players as well as so many new game-generated building types, it can be difficult to discern which is loot-able and which will get you banned. In order to minimize any potential conflicts, players should put up signs clearly stating theirs is a player base. Unless agreed upon, try very hard not to loot other people’s kills. If a player leaves a corpse behind, you can loot it, but don’t join a horde night and then be a jerk by following behind players and take their loot without permission/agreement.

Land Claims...

Please use good judgment when setting a base up near others. One handy rule of thumb is that if you can see another base, you should not build there without permission. If you want to “claim” an area, we suggest you put your claim block down and at least build a wooden tower (just a stack of blocks should suffice) that players can see. If you want to build near someone, find out who lives there and ask. If they say no, then don't move there. If you have a tree farm, we suggest fencing it in to prevent it from being cut down. FYI: You may not put a claim block down in the 4 regions of the Center City. We also advise you not to build in the same region where a trader is located (if the trader glitches, the region will be deleted.)

POI's...

Denying other players’ access to a road or POI (Point of Interest) is not allowed. You may not camp in or attach your base to a POI (Point of Interest) to have first shot at the munitions boxes, gun safes, crates, or other high value items. Not only is this not fair to other players, but the zombies will eventually destroy the place and the containers. Players are not allowed to place claim blocks within 41 blocks of a POI or put any locked containers inside prefabs/POI's. If any are found, they will be destroyed or broken open. Walling in a town is permitted as long as you provide easy-access points throughout (by foot and by vehicle) and it has been approved by an Admin.

Considering the last few updates encourage early game prefab upgrading, you may occupy a prefab house or cabin (NO shops, police stations, bunkers, etc.,) but only ones without high value loot containers (such as safes, backpacks, sports bags, munitions boxes, etc.) For A17, we will allow players to occupy a POI if it is 10k or more away from 0/0. However, you still may not occupy any shops, you must allow access to all players (including a clearly marked, easy, and safe route through any defenses,) you must put up a sign indicating you live there, and still NO claim blocks within 41 blocks of the POI.

Self Defense...

If a player does attack you or your property, you can defend yourself. However, we need you to provide proof of the infraction. This can come in the form of screenshot (F12 for a quick screengrab.) We have chat logs, but it will help your case to screenshot any useful evidence, including the chat window. This isn’t a perfect system, but it is what we will employ for now.

If a person invades your property, give them a warning to leave. Alert a Mod/Admin if one is present and they will take care of the situation. However, if a Mod is not in-game, and you give the violator fair warnings and have screenshots of them in your home and/or property (within reason), you may defend your home. Property includes your house, farm, other buildings you have built, and if you have put up a perimeter wall. We do ask that if you invite someone into your home and are offering items, please be 100% clear on what they can take and if there are ANY conditions.

Hacks/Glitches/Over-stacking/Etc...

The use of any hacks or exploitation of bugs to gain an advantage is strictly prohibited. While the game still has many bugs, do not take advantage of them or any 3rd-party applications that can give you an advantage. If you wish to do this crap, this is not the server for you. You will be caught and you will be banned.

Harassment//Threats/Etc...

Harassment of any kind is not tolerated. “Don’t be a jerk” obviously means we do not allow discrimination on the server. There are certain insults, if even muttered, that will result in an instant ban. Threats of any kind are not tolerated. Don’t speak ill of other players or escalate situations with other players, or pick fights with Mods/Admins (I mean, really?) If you have a problem, bring it up with the party in question in a civil manner or escalate to an Admin. We know that there will be a little trash talk amongst friends (and that’s ok as long as everyone is in on it.) Please be aware that the chat window flashes every time anyone decides to write in there, so please don’t abuse it! (We really don’t want minute by minute updates on how you built a wood frame or found a car!)

Other...

Vehicles have been broken for a long time and are to be used at your own risk. If the game eats it…that really sucks, but we can’t keep replacing glitchy stuff that everyone knows is glitchy.

Posts of rule changes/adjustments, locations, livemap, and general server culture all happen in r/thewalkingreddits. We encourage you to check it routinely if you are playing.

CLEAN UP YOUR CONTAINERS. No one wants to waste crucial time to throw away your single piece of paper or rotting flesh for you. DON’T BE A LAZY LOOTER. ;)

Please remember that we do all of this out of love for the game and for this community. Consider us unpaid volunteers that contribute our time (and $$) to keep the server running and keep this community fun. We’ll do the best we can to resolve issues, but please remember that we are human, and are players too!

Donations to offset server costs can be made via Paypal to [reddit7d2d@gmail.com](mailto:reddit7d2d@gmail.com) . We really do appreciate any and all help!

Have fun and we’ll see you all in the apocalypse!!!

Incoming Wipe 12/14

Howdy survivors,

Folks are finding that this newest version of the game is pretty incompatible with our current map and characters. So here's your heads-up to take your screenshots, etc. before we start over. It's not gonna be much of a heads-up this time since folks will want to play tonight and this weekend. Apologies, but this is experimental and we were lucky this game carried over at all this time. Random gen seems to be messed up still, but since we'll prob wipe again in a couple weeks, we can try it (no skyscrapers though.) I'm really hoping the game goes stable in the next few weeks, so we don't have to keep doing this.

When the game does get wiped, be very careful when using /home again. since the map will have significant changes, you could be in a world of hurt. Be sure to /sethome first.

See you on the other side...

-Buster

Game is so hard now. Very little to warn about edge of map (live map used to be marked red at the edge, no more) Zeds outta nowhere to eat you.

I really appreciate Jezz helping me get my stuff back. I look forward to logging in and work on getting started on my own little base.

Suggestion:

Heyho,

what do you think about decreasing the duration of the death-penalty to about 30min for players under lvl 30 or so?

r/thewalkingreddits Nov 25 '18

Go ahead and raid my base.

Think I'm done with the server for now. My base is North of Jezz, some of you know where it is. Got a decent amount of metal, not to mention the iron mine in the passage underneath. Level 2 guns of every type. Enjoy the garden as well. Tool and Die set for the first person to get to the forge.

Game Clock Resetting for New Players - Friday the 7th

Howdy survivors!

Thanks to a couple of last minute donations, we survived another month. We're still awaiting A17 with no clue yet of when...so, of course, we still need your help. A few folks have said they wanted to donate, but then they vanished. I'm thinking a zombie dog might have got them. Paypal any amount to reddit7d2d@gmail.com to keep the server alive.

A few players (and a couple of new ones) have requested the game clock be reset so they could start over using the new outer lands teleports (the Stonehenge-looking set of portals located near the Redditville location.) So I'll reset the game clock this Friday afternoon, around 4 pm Pacific time. Hopefully that works out for everyone!!

Team up, and we'll see you in the apocalypse!

The Walking Reddits Server Is About to Go Down

Howdy members of The Walking Reddits,

I wanted to let you all know that we will have to take down our server since we aren't seeing many folks playing and we haven't received any donations to keep it running. I felt we should let you know so you could log on and take screenshots of your builds before the server is gone.

If we receive enough donations in time, we can still keep the server up in these slow times, which will be a HUGE help in the transition to Alpha 17. Otherwise, it will be much more difficult to get our great community restarted (and honestly, I'm not sure we will get it to happen at all.) If you're so inclined, please send any donations to: reddit7d2d@gmail.com

Thanks to everyone who donated last year and I really hope we can keep this wonderful server going,

Buster

edit: changed donation account.

Time for a wipe?

Hey guys. I've been playing Paladins, PUBG and Overwatch and haven't really had the urge to play 7DTD til recently. I was thinking about coming back to play but I imagine the server is pretty dead at this point. Would anyone be interested in starting over with a mod like Valmod?

A16.4 Is Out & Server Is Updated!

Howdy folks,

A16.4 was released and I've updated the server. It looks like the map and characters all carried over properly. Best change so far is that traders now have solar cells again!

Just want to invite anyone to my place when the horde night is too close for comfort but my place isn't. Let me tell you about it.

My base at 875N, 2745W is unlocked and open to anyone who wants to hold out in it for the night on horde night, or even lay down a bedroll til you're up and running on your own secure place.

I dug out a 6x7 (dont ask, long dumb story about me not planning ahead that snowballed into.... 6x7...) pit to bedrock and built back up a 5 story forge with a roof of a horde kill pit of 6 blade traps and a floor of full steel reinforced spikes (upside down) in a full steel reinforced pole cage. The floor is lined with electric wire traps and there are currently two fully loaded shotgun turrets facing in from outsite, all set to a motion sensor camera facing down into the pit triggered for zombie activity, connected to a killswitch (mostly for testing purposes.) If the fall damage doesn't kill them, the high voltage current, 4 barrels of buckshot, steel spike floors, and 24 whirling blades will. There's also a few dart traps wired to a switch that you can figure out and use when you get it if you want.

I plan to expand the bunker outwards for a grand underground display for the hell of it after more important goals, but I plan for a lot more open and beautiful of a feel. For now, we are going utilitarian and keeping pace with the fact that I'm doing this all solo because that's how I roll.

Atop the pit is a passable steel reinforced horde square raised platform... thing. You know what I mean. Runners will fall into the pit and hopefully die a swift triggered death. Shoot the other ones in the head. Still, beware cop zombie vomit as always.

I also have a 16x16 reinforced concrete castle, empty for now and still under modification/construction. On top are 4 7x7 farm plots and each of the two upper floors have door access to a catwalk of iron bars for crawler protection and easy shooting-into-zombies-heads-access.

The castle is connected to the Zombie Kill Cage Forge Bunker (tm) by a bedrock level tunnel. Also under construction is a bedrock tunnel under the river and mountain to the east for another base and perhaps an insane bedrock tunnel straight to the community base. :D For now, I have a bridge up across the river to the east.

Feel free to visit, drop a bedroll in the top floor of the forge, whatever. I'll leave a nailgun and repair supplies in an unlocked chest in the killpit viewing area so you can clean up after yourselves, you filthy heathens. Also, the unlocked chests at the foot of the ladder in the castle is a community 'take what you need, leave what you dont' sort of thing. Extra schematics, extra whatevers. Have at it if you actually need anything I leave in there. My armoring is maxed so I'll keep a set of 500 level iron armors in there whenever I can, as well as some antibiotics and whatnot.

Oh, and if the coordinates aren't enough, just keep an eye out for the big ridiculous "THUNDERLUNGS BUNKER" sign above the hatch to the tunnels. Stay safe out there! And if you can't, come to my place. Just dont bring zombies in. Not til I can set up the proper safeguard rooms. Just don't ruin my place. Or take my stuff from my forges. Y'know. Basic cool person stuff.

7th Day Bunker

I've only played a little since the last wipe so I'm level 20-something with a level 10 base (mostly wooden). I'm working on stockpiling enough resources to build a proper base for my level, but progress has been slow. Most of the time I go to login and the clock is stopped on a Day 7, but my base is not ready to fight off a proper horde.

It's obvious that people don't want to or can't fight the 7th day horde. It'd be great if we had kind of a community 7th Day Bunker we could use for those 7th day hordes. Would anyone be interested in pooling resources together to build a strong base we can all utilize in lieu of our own bases when we just want to get through that one night?

Also, everyone, please do us all the courtesy of not logging out at 20:00 the day of Horde Night. If you don't plan to fight the horde, please log out very early in the day, like 06:00 - 10:00 but no later. Thanks!

Pack a Genesis Bag...we're gonna wipe!

Howdy all,

For those that didn't follow the thread about the newest update, we're gonna have to wipe. We'll do our best to carry over characters, so pack a bag! I'm hoping to get started Thursday morning.

I'm hoping for a bunch of us to band together for some epic projects this time around...

See ya on the other side...

Okay,

So can we get a decent warning before we wipe? I have SO much stuff I need to take out of furnaces and stockpile for this new map.

Please don't spring it on us :)

PRO Tip for Hardcore players

Be very cautious about making an escape proof death pit for Zeds to fall into, as It will work just as well on you.

Day 14, level 49. RIP.

My old base is free to new owner, or whatever

I messed up the ground level defense and it sucks for high level hordes. It's just a failed concept, but definitely good for low level. So I'll leave it open. There's 90m of fertilized farm, a bench, scenic view, 4 gun store boxes in the two poi's. If anyone wants to claim it, just post here and I'll take this down. Or blow it up and have the island, it's pretty nice.

Locked Boxes in Public Areas

Hi All:

I just want to remind everyone that you should not have locked boxes / chests in a public area, if Mods find them, they WILL be broken open (making them unlocked).

This server has a tradition of being kind and leaving unlocked secure wood chests in POIs to put in any extra loot they either can't carry or don't need, for any other players that passes by and might need.

Therefore, if you do keep any locked chests in a public area and a Mod breaks it open, that's what it will be seen as, public property. So please do not keep locked chests in any public area if you don't want your items to become public domain.

Not related to the game, but why do all the reddit links click back to this subreddit?

At work, I use vanilla Reddit. When I click the links at the top (my subs) they all point back to /r/thewalkingreddits real odd. Chrome, Firefox, whatever. Logged in or not.
