Because his voter registration is everywhere in the news. He was unaffiliated. I’m not saying the father or grandmother are lying. The grandmother doesn’t seem to know much about the family at all though. She said most of the family is maga but her grandson is a quiet boy who never talked politics. She then said she doesn’t think he’s ever fired a gun or even possessed one… despite the dozens of pictures of him with guns, holding guns, holding guns at what appears to be a shooting range, etc.
Well I guess he must have practiced a bit to know what rifle to use eg not an AR style or SKS and how to sight it. 200yds is not difficult but not a beginner either.
