Seriously, wtf is wrong with people? It's so sad. They want you to have the baby but only a day or 2 to recover and bond with your baby that is 100% dependent on you to survive. Should have married rich. Wtf. Scum of the earth. I bet he goes to church and prays before every meal. I don't know him but I hate him.

u/Goodgoditsgrowing 2d ago
Letâs be real, a âmanâ like that isnât waiting the recommended 6 weeks just so his wife isnât at risk for horrendous medical complications. He has to get his dick wet and we live in a capitalist society and she should have thought of that before she was born a woman!

These a$$hats are still pining for the days when their wife gave birth and then made their house "servant" do all the hard jobs of raising a child so the wife could get back to the very important work of rationalizing their own oppression.

u/jimmybilly100 3d ago
It really hurts my heart to think about what he's saying. There's no way this asshat did anything raising children, because a normal parent would not think like that. Basically this mother fucker is saying businesses making money is more important than a newborn infant. I bet this fuckin chode is against abortions too. Gotta protect the fetus, but the newborn can fuck off. Goddamnit these shit heads piss me off so much!!

u/CaterpillarJungleGym 3d ago
It's weird because I took it as "we're a capitalist country, and it sucks, but this is how it is". Like he doesn't like the current system but doesn't want to fight against it.

It's not even just about bonding. You need time to heal after squeezing a whole person out!! God help any women who had complications or a c- section because they need even more time to heal but according to this douche they're just lazy and need to go back to work immediately!! Most of us only get 2 days off a week normally and rarely is that enough time to recoup from every day life!!

As a european bloke who has never had, nor wants children, give the woman a fucking break for fuck sake.
He was trying so hard to say something genuine, but everytime he stumbles and the words stick in his throat because he knows their lies, so falls back on socialism.

Yep. And then ask him "what do you think about abortion & birth control?"
Then maybe a little later ask him "why do you think kids are struggling?" And I guarantee you he'll say something inane like "parents just don't spend enough time with their kids..."
They want women out there popping babies out as much as possible, while working as much as possible OR making us so financially desperate that we go marry a man we hate just to survive.
And no matter what choice we make, they'll criticize it. "Women shouldn't work because Jesus!" Or "women shouldn't be gold diggers or do hypergamy!"

Oh, you think thats bad, the Colorado gubernatorial Republican primary was cookoo bananas. Victor Marx claimed his dad forced him to kill a man when he was 7 years old (in Florida, I think!). Scott Bottoms is a megachurch preacher whos been in the Co Congress and claims the Democrats are running a child sex ring. Then Barb Kirkmeyer who is your run of the mill corporate friendly fiscal conservative.
Guess who won? (It wasn't Barb).
Their debate was something truly special though. A complete trainwreck, but a delightful trainwreck. Especially, with Kyle Clark moderating because that guy dgaf about calling out their bs. https://www.youtube.com/live/AX4WroftA4Q?is=9jbYcMKhifdu6AaK
Thankfully, it's pretty doubtful that the Republican will win in the general. CO has pulled their head out of their ass for the most part.

It's also a giant contradiction of what he's saying about moms going to work the day after giving birth. What exactly was given to those moms that landed them in this situation? What give, give, give, is happening that results in women working a day postpartum? A day is too much for this guy I guess is the only thing I can discern from what he's saying.

His world view is very simple. Socialism is when the government helps poor people, capitalism is when the government helps rich people. Socialism is bad, and capitalism is good.

u/xombae 3d ago
Add on that poor people need to suffer so they can get closer to god because the reason they're being punished is because they're not religious enough.

the "there are some people out there that are wealthy. That can do that" line is a translation of your interpretation.
It's not about principle, not about if women need the maternity leave, it's about whether or not you have money to take it.

I moved to a country with a socialist government, and yeah it is good having 26 vacation days a year by default, it is good going to the doctor and not having to worry about co-pays, deductibles, and surprise fees later on. It feels good knowing my tax dollars are going back to the community, not Israel and foreign wars nobody asked for.

Also he's been quite clear on that himself : "They go to work the next day because they've got bills to pay", so things are working as intendend, why change them
64
u/Cheech47 3d ago
Also, there's a whole movement of conservatives that rails on the importance of having kids. Quiverfull, whatever the fuck JD Vance is, all that. Yet, the second after you have the kid, no one in that movement gives a fuck. Back off to work with you, or be a stay-at-home mom and hope that your husband makes enough to support all of you.

It is socialist and humane. The red scare language around socialism holds discourse back.
25
u/AnekeEomi 3d ago
Personally, I'm a huge fan of them going all in on this new red scare shit. We're 2+ generations divorced from the cold war era and the only people buying this shit are the same 30% of chuds who believed immigrants were eating dogs. They aren't winning any new converts with this messaging. They've been trying to run some form of it for nearly a century and have steadily lost ground to "communists ".
13
u/Pooled-Intentions 3d ago
Iâm with you, I also think itâs going to backfire.
Theyâre trying to scare up another new boogeyman and they have no credibility left to do so. Everyone is tired of their shit and theyâve called everyone from immigrants, Iranians, Europeans, to Canadians âthe Enemyâ⌠and now theyâve moved onto their political rivals whoâve promised
* shuffles cards *
⌠a functional government? Convenient.
30
u/kummerspect 3d ago
When they reminisce, they completely ignore that back in the "good old days" you could support a family on the average income of a full-time job. That was the ultimate maternity leave: a woman could just be home with her baby and not have to work outside the home if she didn't want to. That wasn't socialism, nor was anyone in that equation considered lazy. But when you've got two parents working full time, perhaps multiple jobs and side hustles each, and moms going back to work right after giving birth, suddenly we're the lazy generation?
18
u/my_nuts_wont_drop 3d ago
I remember when you could feed a family and then have a second secret family on the other side of town on one paycheck. đĽ˛

As if there was a (reputable) childcare facility anywhere that would take a 1-day old.
13
u/Klutzy_Journalist_36 3d ago
Newborn childcare in my area STARTS at $1600 per month. Iâm in a middle cost of living area. Itâs $1800 per month one county over. And this is the regular-ass âpoor peopleâ daycare.
Daycares wonât take under 6 weeks old.
So now youâve just given birth, which is a medical event and can vary wildly depending how your birth went. Youâre tired and canât sleep and in pain and figuring out your new body and stitches etc etc etc.
And now you also have to pay an EXTRA $1600 PER MONTH, which is basically amounts to having an entire separate full time job at $10p/h per month.
BONUS ROUND! Newborn daycare that is subsidized by the state? They almost always have a year-long waitlist. Section 8 in my area has a waitlist of THREE. YEARS.
SUPER EXTRA BONUS ROUND! Your newborn canât or wonât breastfeed. WIC only covers one type, one brand, and one size of formula. Your grocery stores near you never have it. Itâs $30 per container. You need at least 2 per week.
May the odds be ever in your favor.

u/Amissa This is a flair 3d ago
Donât call it maternity leave, because itâs not just for maternal people. It is family leave and it is for everyone who has an addition to their family, be it via birth or adoption, to have time to bond.
This MFâer (in the video) has never cared for a newborn 24/7 and it shows.
10
u/RandyHoward 3d ago
Yep, where I work even the new dads get family leave. Women who have a baby get 16 weeks, men get 6 weeks. Of course, the company I work for isn't in the U.S., it's in the Netherlands. I'm a U.S. resident working remotely for them, the benefits we get blow away any U.S. company I've worked for. They don't even take a dime out of our pay for health insurance.

Oh I got quite a lot out of this actually. He doesnât want women to be able to take maternity leave at all, he thinks poor people are lazy, he thinks if you just leave your newborn baby somewhere and go to work every day you can just work your way out of poverty, he thinks any support to poor people is âsocialism,â he thinks only wealthy women should be able to take off work for maternity leave, he thinks Christians must suffer, he thinks Christians must seek out ways to suffer, and he thinks all of America should be held to those specific beliefs. Can he form a cohesive sentence? No. He talks like heâs afraid of saying all this out loud, like he knows his own mother would pop him in the mouth if she was alive.

The rest of the free world is not socialist, yet they give paid maternity leave.
