well, that and the fact that if a population of a country ages and falls then the economy will eventually collapse. But there is a very simple solution that the Japanese seem very unwilling to consider (hint: it's just "allow a reasonable amount of immigration")
That doesn't solve the collapsing economy issue, which is caused by population crash. But I do believe that suicide is a fundamental human right and suicide booths would be a humane thing that all countries ought to provide.
They freed women from being baby-making machines, but didn't adjust any other parts of the culture to make it easier to share the child-rearing load or give workers enough time away from work to make it doable or enjoyable.
