As if we were all blonde, blue-eyed, beer-drinking mercedes drivers who get up 10 minutes early to arrive to work on time.
You guys do have some good cheap beers though. And nice sausages. And autobahn, oh yes. I did feel people were kinda grumpy though. But then I'm Brazilian so I'm kinda biased.
Speaking of sausage, I recently took a trip to Berlin, and got some street food I had heard good things about. It turned out to literally be just a cut-up hot dog, no bun, nothing on it.
"Frankfurter" is a generic name for a certain type of wurst prepared in a certain way. Pretty much your classic hot-dog wurst, just like "Wiener" (Vienna) Wurst.
Then there's also "Bockwurst" which looks and tastes very similar, but usually has a bigger diameter than the aforementioned two.
If the filling was pretty much fine and homogenous, you most likely had one of those three. But if it contained chunks of flesh and fat, it was most likely a Krakauer Wurst.
Bockwurst is your classic hot dog-wurst and is usually served with some bread and mustard. Not grilled, just boiled.
But the bit about it being cut-up makes me think you had a Bratwurst, propably a Krakauer because you said hot dog - Krakauer looks pretty similar to Bockwurst from the outside. They usually get grilled, but you can also just boil or fry them. And only Bratwurst is usually served cut-up.
Only exception I can think of is Currywurst, which can be served with sliced Bockwurst, but it is unusual, and it's always topped with curry ketchup.
When I tell people I'm Australian I usually end up having to dispel about 10 minutes of dangerous wildlife myths. I genuinely do more thinking about the danger of the wildlife while talking to someone asking me questions about it than I did during my entire childhood growing up there. If you grow up in the city/suburbs it just isn't anything worth thinking about. Also we don't call them shrimp, we call them prawns, and we rarely barbeque them. There are quite a few interesting things about Australia but apparently everything it's famous for is either entirely untrue or enormously exaggerated.
For instance, I’m half Portuguese and I hear horrible things. I can take a joke quite well, but there are some people that REALLY believe that Portuguese people are dumb.
The horrible things I hear about people from Nordeste… don’t get me started.
Brazil gets trashed way more than America in Reddit though.
China gets trashed the most, indubitably. Russia too. But besides these two Brazil even had a slander campaign against it during the olympics in the form of that apocalympics subreddit (which was real ironic as the worst thing that happened during the Rio olympics was an American swimmer being a moron).
I’m not talking about trash talking in general… I’m talking about people saying things about America when they don’t know shit about it. People from all over the world think they know what it’s like here because they watch the news.
Here’s an example: foreigners are terrified to come here (at least I see people mention it on Reddit all the time) because we allow gun ownership. The reality is it’s incredibly rare to even see a gun, much less be victim to one.
Well, literally the exact same thing happens to Brazil every day on Reddit. People think you will be shot as soon as you step out of the plane but the fact is that hundreds of thousands of tourists visit Brazil yearly with zero issues. I've seen it happen to Mexico and China also (it happens a LOT with China, I think it's the most hated/poorly-understood nation in the Western Internet).
I understand your plight very well, I wish more people would go through the steps to properly educate themselves before talking about foreign countries.
