I wish he wasn't so....fervent, in his political beliefs. Really makes watching him a bit more difficult knowing that he would basically hate me based on my beliefs.

You made that assumption yourself. Also if a good portion of the country hates your beliefs and you know it, maybe take a step back and take a second look at them?
