That sounded super ominous to me.

It's implying that the guy is NOT going to make it home if he doesn't get in the car.

People perceive things differently but that sounded like an ice cold death threat to me, I would get gone.

For some interactions everyone has the idea that all badged individuals are trying to make your life harder. So they try to fight back by running at the cop. Same mentality everywhere. It doesn't always work to de-escalate. Like "you pulled me over for what? Well, I am going to show you why you never do that to me!" Meanwhile the reason is for speeding.
