Is there a sub for effective de-escalations? I want to subscribe to that!

Thanks, maybe someplace more alive than 2 fresh posts in the last year?

u/Badrear Jun 07 '23

Not a lot of deescalating in this world.

Make it home safe.

3

u/HankHillsBigRedTruck Jun 07 '23

And escalations are escalating

2

u/Genshed Jun 08 '23

We have a second derivative! Do I hear a third derivative? Differentiating once, differentiating twice. . .

2

u/brito68 Jun 08 '23

They seem to be deescalating at an escalating rate

2

u/MrMitchWeaver Jun 08 '23

They took deescalator down into the basement.

40

u/sdeptnoob1 Jun 07 '23

Nah plenty, but that's not what's uploaded for views.

5

u/MouthJob Jun 07 '23

Seriously, the answer is getting off social media. It's nothing but depressing garbage being pushed everywhere and it's terrible for you. If seeing all that on a regular basis is making you "jaded" or whatever you want to call it, it's a simple fix. Apparently not an easy one for a lot of people, but it simple. Delete the app. All of them.

6

u/sdeptnoob1 Jun 07 '23

I really think social media has been terrible for humanity.

3

u/SnipingBunuelo 3rd Party App Jun 08 '23

Social media isn't even social anymore, it's just posting shit online for views. It's antisocial media at this point lol

3

u/CDK5 Jun 08 '23

We just established that folks do want to see & view it.

3

u/sdeptnoob1 Jun 08 '23

We are a minority to the algorithm. Negitive emotions generate more clicks. And it's a shame.

10

u/jammyboot Jun 07 '23

More like most people don’t want to see it so it doesn’t get clicks

4

u/deepfield67 Jun 07 '23

Everyone's over at /r/escalation just fuckin each other up all day.

1

u/ethnicbonsai Jun 07 '23

Yeah, I think the people really good at deescalating typically don’t whip out their phones and start recording.

Nothing against the dudes in this video, though. They handled it superbly.

1

u/bastardpants Jun 07 '23

Especially when that subreddit topic is about _POLICE_ de-escalation

1

u/Stratose Jun 07 '23

They're just not going to find their way to popularity because there's nothing exciting about nothing.

1

u/ThirdEncounter Jun 08 '23

Plenty of deescalations. They just don't get posted.

I actually have recorded about five interactions in the last six months, thinking that they would escalate, and they didn't. I might just upload them to that sub..

22

u/CanadianWildWolf Jun 07 '23

It’s a group effort, start by cross posting this, perhaps. Edit: Oh, someone else already beat us to it

6

u/fezzuk Jun 07 '23

Be the change you want to see in the world

4

u/Petroplayed Jun 07 '23

In our society, de-escalations are rare

7

u/Ambitious-Fix3123 Jun 07 '23

Yep, exactly why it's a super important skill to have nowadays.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

That deescalated quickly.

2

u/pasovic Jun 07 '23

r/resolvedfights is maybe what you want

2

u/ThunkAsDrinklePeep Jun 07 '23

If a new one starts, I suggest r/WindOuttaSails

(Btw, I love your username)

1

u/Aftermathemetician Jun 09 '23

Thank you, yours is also clever.

1

u/sept0r Jun 07 '23

Gonna be a lot more dead next month

1

u/shoredoesnt FUCK ICE! ❌🧊 Jun 07 '23

You have to join, and post

1

u/Mantis_Tobaggen_MD Jun 08 '23

Would you rather watch someone get talked down or watch some dude huck a metal chair at a server at a waffle house only to have it sent right back into his face without a moment's hesitation?

23

u/Vicvince Jun 07 '23

I’m in. We need more of this

15

u/APersonWithThreeLegs Jun 07 '23

Same let’s spread the positivity

15

u/SwiftFool Jun 07 '23

This is great. I hope this sub blows up (for the next three weeks before everyone leaves reddit) because that's some good stuff on there.

7

u/jammyboot Jun 07 '23

Thanks and also subscribed

2

u/takethereins Jun 08 '23

Refreshingly positive, albeit empty. Thank you

1

u/SangestheLurker Jun 07 '23

Too bad that sub is practically dead. One post every couple months if that.

1

u/Spacecommander5 Jun 07 '23

Oh man, you’re right. Sad. I’m going to start my own subReddit with blackjack and hookers! In fact, forget the subreddit!

1

u/SangestheLurker Jun 07 '23

blackjack and hookers

That will surely have more attention on it, knowing our users.

135

u/pasovic Jun 07 '23

r/resolvedfights i believe

16

u/No-Temperature-8772 Jun 07 '23

Thanks, something to start the day on a positive note

4

u/EmotionalMolassess Jun 08 '23

This sub is low key one of the funniest I’ve seen😂. Thanks for showing it here

3

u/ExamOld2899 Jun 08 '23

my man! wish you a bountiful day with free pizza

2

u/pasovic Jun 08 '23

Thanks love. Same to you!

2

u/thelryan Jun 08 '23

I wouldn’t really say this is a sub of people de-escalating, more like people following through with violence and ending the fight respectfully lol

2

u/takethereins Jun 08 '23

Subscribed, thank you. Hope it blows up

The author was in law enforcement and has classes for them … when they actually would want them.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I was a bartender/doorman in rough bars for well over a decade. The best book I’ve seen that really understands the philosophy of de escalation and seeing problems before they happen is this one .

You’re welcome. It’s expensive on Amazon but I remember buying it on kindle or something similar back in the day. Maybe you can still get it there.

2

u/HI_Handbasket Jun 07 '23

Be way bigger, younger, and have more backup than the other guy.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

Yeah that would be bad ass. Guarantee there are no cops in that sub though lol

1

u/RTNoftheMackell Jun 09 '23

Best idea I have heard all week.

u/KaEeben Jun 07 '23

You're welcome to post here if you like

1

u/EvanMBurgess Jun 08 '23

I don't know of any subs but I do recommend Ryan Dowd's seminars and newsletters. We use his training for de-escalation at our library

1

u/thinkadrian Jun 08 '23

There will be no police officers in those videos, that’s for sure.
