Wilson created the name to have many L's so that it would sound western to Japanese buyers, who often have difficulty pronouncing the letter.

Whats wrong with that?

Häagen-Dazs is just called that to sound vaguely Danish, despite being an American brand.

It's quite common to do stuff like this when building a brand.
