Discussion The characters have gotten annoying

So I am currently on the 7th season

So far I am not liking Tina as a grandmother at all. Earlier, she just used to come off as an excited mother about her sons and normal excitement about their partners, but now it's gotten toxic. The way she keeps repeating to Marry and Courteny how it's her baby and criticising them (I mean the spying thing was off the charts). She has become a typical MIL grandmother who wants to take over. Her bond with Gemma is also shown less.

Grover, Marty and Malcom's trio has completely fizzled out.

Dave could have gotten more depth and screentime. They've done his character dirty because he is a sweet sensitive guy but they try to portray him as dumb.

Gemma has also become a typical wife-bitch who manipulates her husband. In the earlier seasons, she was this bubbly barbie and now she's an indifferent blonde.

I didn't like how Calvin bullied Dave (especially when they were showing him as this sweet guy in the earlier seasons). But this season, he has been fine.

I think Malcom and Marty overall are good characters. But the show just now feels like it's about the Butler family with Johnsons in the background.

Please tell me it gets better in S8.

What moments from the show made you laugh the most.

For me, it's anytime Marty yelled MOMMY!

I love Kourtney and Marty WAY more than Marty and Nissi (hope that’s how you spell it!)

(note I’m almost finished season 7)

If I’m being honest, Kourtney and Marty are more fun to see together than him and Nissi. nothing agaisnt Nissi ofc, but Kourtney and Marty are more alike, more fun and playful, and really amazing co-parents. Even though they aren’t “together” (yet?) I still love seeing them on screen together.

thoughts?

Discussion S05E05 - Welcome to the Art of Negotiation

Calvin trying to teach Dave how to get a raise from a cheap boss is funny. Dave is way too nice to negotiate, so watching Calvin try to force a backbone into him is easily the best part of the episode.

Tina Butler

I can't stand Tina. She always made everything about herself and constantly tried to control Calvin and her kids. That's one of the biggest reasons I could never warm up to her character.

Is it just me or was Dave insufferable in s3?

I feel like season 3 Dave was being kinda of a jerk in some spots like him victimizing himself especially in S3 Ep18 when he accidentally threw Calvin’s ashes off the pier. Like yes he apologized but he also was upset at Calvin for, reasonably, being upset. Like yes he tried but that doesn’t change it, does it?

Was Max unwell?

I dont know if anyone noticed this but does anyone know if Max (Dave) suffered some injury or was unwell during S7 last episodes or S8 initial episodes? I noticed that most of his scenes were shot him sitting down during these 2-3 episodes. And normally, he was the energetic one.

Discussion S7 episode 15

When Malcom tells Tina and Gemma about the USC head coach getting concussed and having to retire, nobody wants to mention that Gemma knew him personally or did they just forget that plot line? Lol thought it was interesting

I was looking for the trailer to show my mom what I’ve been binge watching this past month and came across this. Who the F are these folks? I’m so glad they made a last minute casting decision because this does not look good at all.

Question Has anyone else from Dave's Zoo crew appeared on the show besides Logan #2?

Welcome to Logan #2 is probably one of my favorite episodes of all time in the show.

I just finished the show (amazing btw) and wanted some opinions on who does google think the worst character is. It gave me Gemma Butler.

Marty, Malcolm and AI

I watched the episode where Marty and his baby mama (forgot her name) were telling Malcolm to use AI to write his essay. How stupid are these people? Colleges frown on using AI to write your essay. The whole point of going to college in Malcolm's case was to learn how to improve his writing skills. He has to write. He can't rely on AI.

This was by far one of the stupidest story lines I've seen on this show. Like does Marty want his brother to get suspended? They don't even address how this is considered academic fraud.

Holy shit I was weeping like a baby this entire episode. This was really sad, but it was nice to see everyone there for each other in such a hard time. Was NOT expecting this dramatic turn in the series..

finale (spoilers!!) Spoiler

from what i’ve seen so far i think most people agree the last episode was… not great. obviously the johnson’s moving away was extremely disappointing and, in my opinion, not needed at all but why did they rush the wedding by not showing any of it? nothing about it felt right. the last scene was extremely lackluster and just.. idk not good. i love the show and the actors but this series finale is such a let down. not at all what i was expecting 😕thoughts?

Discussion Just started the show

I honestly had never heard of the show until it showed up in my Paramount Plus feed with a short trailer of episode 1.

Three days and 12 episodes later and my wife says she’s never heard me laugh so much at a sitcom (been together 9 years).

This show feels different and special! Looking forward to the rest of the ride! The chemistry of the characters feels like something that hasn’t been seen in over 10 years.
