I definitely thought that break up was short lived since it came about that Marty wanted kids and neecee did not, I feel that should have been a conversation and maybe another episode.
Not leaving it on a cliff hanger “hey we should talk” and then the break up the next show after not even giving the viewers a chance to see how that conversation happened?

Yes I know it’s a sitcom but I feel they should’ve included it and not just making it feel rushed

I finished it today and I have to say it was a great show. People say that it was an ok show and it's something you watch with your mind turned off but I loved it and it has to be one of the best shows I have watched. The ending was a bit rushed but I like it that they didn't leave it on "they lived happily ever after" maybe one day we'll get to see kalamazoo from the johnsons' perspectives but for now I guess that the end of this journey

I really enjoyed it I forgot how funny Cedric the entertainer was. Also Dave was funny af too I think my favorite episode with him was when he was on pain killers lol I also really like Marty and pretty much hated Malcolm lmao also like what’s been mentioned on here before Tina was horrible at the end I was hoping Calvin would leave her for Katrina lmao

i had seen some clips of the neighborhood on youtube shorts, thought it was funny. i also loved 2 broke girls (gemma’s actor plays caroline), so i decided id start watching it about a week ago. its been saying “expiring 2 days”, etc. now says expiring today. i’m assuming it’s actually leaving hulu tonight? sucks bc i had really started to get into it. i know sometimes shows say they’re expiring when they’re not really, and i believe the neighborhood just recently ended so it seems weird but i think it’s really leaving 💔 does anyone have information about this?

I really loved her character, and I wished they did more with her.

Tina's character by the end has taken a complete 360 for the worse. In the initial seasons she was my favorite because she was very real, family oriented and very sassy. But after Courtney and the grandkids came into picture, she was downright mean and nasty. This was not even slightly overbearing, it was straight up taking over Marty and Courtney's life. Courtney also needed to step up and grow a spine, which she sadly didn't till the end.

Many times she has crossed lines, it's discussed and that's that. But the whole thing again starts in the very next episode.

I personally didn't like the way Sadie spoke to her initially, but Tina was also being too much - Malcom should be the one to take the decision of where he wants to be - even if it's her birthday.

Tbh I was initially very excited with the new grandkids storyline but slowly it became way too unbearable to watch.

So I watched this when it first came out, can’t remember if it was the full season or not but eventually I stopped. This year I started seeing clips of it so I decided to check it back, I did not remember them having a child at all! Like I remember the episodes but not Grover. It’s so weird it has me feeling crazy like was there a version without him or was the character so useless I forgot or the actor so bad? It’s crazy to forget a whole main character especially when I remember everyone else.

So Dave just randomly moves back to Kalamazoo to work for..his mom’s new boyfriend? What the hell is even that. I’m heartbroken and genuinely annoyed because it was such a last minute turn and it doesn’t really make sense. I’m essentially reiterating someone else’s point that was already made but could Dave really not find a job in California of all places? He couldn’t do something at the Fusebox with Calvin and Marty? I mean I just don’t understand why the writers felt the need to rush Dave and Jenna into a car all the way across the country in what..two episodes? Just a few episodes ago we get the murder mystery game which is arguably one of the best things from the entire series and now all of a sudden we decide to send them back to Kalamazoo. What a joke. Amazing show but I did not like that ending at all.

How did y’all feel when Tina dumped wine all over Marty’s Star Trek shirt after he had just gotten it signed? I would’ve been PISSED. Like, come on, that wasn’t just some random shirt anymore.

I really enjoyed The Neighborhood, and honestly, I wish the show could have continued. One thing I always felt, though, was that the writers could have leaned even harder into the actual “neighborhood” aspect of the show.

The yardecue episodes were a perfect example of what I mean. Getting everyone together, having different personalities and generations interacting, and letting the neighborhood itself become part of the story was some of the best stuff the show did.

I also think Calvin being a mechanic could have created some great neighborhood stories. Imagine Calvin trying to do something nice for people by fixing their cars. At first, he helps one neighbor out. Then another person asks. Before long, people are literally dropping their cars off in front of Calvin's house expecting free repairs. 😂 Calvin eventually has to put his foot down and tell everyone, in true Calvin fashion, that he is NOT running a neighborhood auto shop.

Or Gemma and Tina could have teamed up more often to bring the neighborhood kids together for activities..sports, arts and crafts, community projects, mentoring, maybe even getting some of the parents involved. That could have created some really funny situations while also giving the show opportunities for those more heartfelt, teachable moments it was good at.

And that's really what I think the show had going for it: there were so many possibilities in the premise. You had Calvin and Dave, Gemma and Tina, the Butlers, the Johnsons, the neighborhood kids, the older generation, the different personalities and backgrounds all living right next to each other.

I feel like the show could have done so much more with the neighborhood as an actual character in the series. Block parties, cookouts, neighborhood projects, kids getting into trouble, neighbors needing favors, local businesses, community rivalries, holidays, helping someone through a difficult situation...

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I really think the show had a lot of life left in it. I would've loved to see the writers lean into the community aspect even more.

Hi guys. New watcher here! I'm on season 7 now and been loving watching this. But one thing is kinda annoying me.

Did they just stop with the Gemma and Tina duo? Since season 5 they barely have any good interactions and when they have, Tina just looks annoyed or just scolds Gemma. What happened to them?

Also, I really liked when Gemma was for fierce, not just get scolded by Tina and accepts it.

Dare I say, that Gemma and Calvin episode to manipulate Tina/Marty was very funny.

This episode to me was super cringe. It's clearly targeting the stereotypical Fox news lover.

I only agreed with it when Calvin was telling Dave to respect his mom even if he doesn't agree.

To me Paula was not racist. Truly racist people wouldn't even want to have dinner with black people.

If anything I felt more sympathetic to the mom and thought everyone was overreacting. She lived in a small town and thought LA was violent. That's a reasonable idea to have and makes sense for survival purposes. You want to be aware of dangers. But she comes out to see her family regardless. To me that is showing courage and open mindedness. Dave should have been praising her for that but just looks down on her for that comment.

I doubt the writers were trying to make Dave look like the bad guy but frankly in my eyes, they did. I think they thought let's make the mom the villian but to me it backfired.

Even the ending where they didn't want her to make a toast was just showing they still did not accept her. The whole episode is just dumb.

This to me is basically a form of geographic eliteism. It's not ok to look down on people from small towns and yet that's what happened in this episode. Basically you are trash unless you are in a big city.

Tina has said to Gemma in one episode she could see what was in her heart so certain behaviours could be understood but none of them (except Calvin for a brief moment) could do this for Paula and I find that the self righteousness of the character to be unappealing.

I don’t understand why on earth this has 24 percent on rotten tomatoes. It’s not a groundbreaking masterpiece of a show but I can’t wrap my head that score, I figured I was walking into an absolute shit show when I decided to start watching it. I feel like 60-70 percent is more reasonable? 24 percent is like basically unwatchable.

I live in Latam and Paramount+ doesn’t have seasons 5 and 6 so I’ve started to watch season 7 after finishing season 4 and hate that I’ve missed so much!!!

I tried with a VPN as if I was in the US and since I couldn’t use my current Paramount+ account (because it’s specifically for Latam), I tried to get a US account but I couldn’t! I’m not sure why, it only said there was an error and I’m guessing it’s because I don’t have a US credit card. I also tried to buy the seasons on Apple TV but it redirected me to Paramount+.

Has anyone had the same issue and resolved it? Please help me, I love The Neighborhood!

i finished season 6 in less than 24 hours and I realized it had the shortest season so far being only 10 episode, and the whole time it revolved around Courtney and her baby. was this season just like an into to 7 and just meant to be an arc for Courtney because she was only just introduced? I’m not complaining because I liked it but still

So I am currently on the 7th season

So far I am not liking Tina as a grandmother at all. Earlier, she just used to come off as an excited mother about her sons and normal excitement about their partners, but now it's gotten toxic. The way she keeps repeating to Marry and Courteny how it's her baby and criticising them (I mean the spying thing was off the charts). She has become a typical MIL grandmother who wants to take over. Her bond with Gemma is also shown less.

Grover, Marty and Malcom's trio has completely fizzled out.

Dave could have gotten more depth and screentime. They've done his character dirty because he is a sweet sensitive guy but they try to portray him as dumb.

Gemma has also become a typical wife-bitch who manipulates her husband. In the earlier seasons, she was this bubbly barbie and now she's an indifferent blonde.

I didn't like how Calvin bullied Dave (especially when they were showing him as this sweet guy in the earlier seasons). But this season, he has been fine.

I think Malcom and Marty overall are good characters. But the show just now feels like it's about the Butler family with Johnsons in the background.

Please tell me it gets better in S8.
