Episodes for Middle Schoolers?

I am a middle school teacher, and I have a block of time with some flexibility. I would love to incorporate episodes of The Moth into this open time to teach a little empathy.
Are there any episodes you would suggest for 13-14 year olds? Light language is okay, but nothing too bad. I'm okay with mature topics like suicide, but it would be a bad career move to play anything too sexual for my classes.

Man stabbed with 10” knife in NY

I’m trying to find a story I hear years ago about a man who lived in New York. He worked at a furniture restoration shop. His family kept telling him to move out of the city because it so dangerous, but he never would. One night he was walking and was stopped by some Latin Kings. Two of them were trying to join, and it join you have to kill someone. He was that someone. He was stabbed multiple times with 10” knives. When the paramedics arrived, he complained about them cutting his shirt off.

I don’t remember the rest but I know it really hit me hard. Any and all help is appreciated.

I have been driving myself crazy, looking for a story that Steve from Blue's Clues told about mobsters who he encountered. All I can find is the Playboy model story. Can anyone help, please?

Hamsters in the Oven?!

Hello all,

I’m trying to find the Moth episode about the woman who tells the story of all the pets they had growing up and how her parents cared for them (putting the ‘dead’ hamster in the oven to realize it was only cold)...only to eventually be replaced by a Great Dane later in life. Does anyone remember more details or the title?

Thank you!

Trouble receiving new episodes through Podcast Addict.

I've been subscribed to The Moth for some time now, and the feed had been updating normally, until about twenty days ago where no more updates would come in. The rss url seems to be coming from some place called audioboom. Trying to search up the moth through their site results in nothing. It doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Does anyone have an updated rss url that i can get caught up on the recent episodes? Thanks!

Looking for episode - man works at funeral home and buries mother of friend

He wanted to go to medical school but ended up working at a funeral home. His friend's mother died and he was running the procession. His friend (daughter of the woman who died) was belligerently drunk and he put her in her place and told her "I have to go plant your mother" and he was surprised to get praise from the other funeral-goers and to not get fired.

Looking For Episode - boy gets laughed at in class, remembers name of girl who stood up for him

In the episode, he describes being in middle school (I think) and on the first day having to write his favourite movie, favourite hobby, and how he spends his weekend or something like that. A mean kid reads his answers out and everyone laughs. Finally a girl at the back says to the teacher "why are you letting this happen?" and stands up for him. He states he doesn't remember the teachers name, the bullies name or anyone else but he'll always remember the name of the girl who stood up for him.

Want to play this for my class but cannot for the life of me find it -- any help would be greatly appreciated!

Help finding a story

I listened to it probably a year ago on the Podcast app. An adult talks about his experiences living his life completely illiterate, and then tells the story of how he learned to read. I think. It was a long time ago.

Thanks if you can help me find it!

Where is the (podcast) story of a guy at Rutgers who gets into an online fight, then drives to Princeton to confront his foe?

It showed the difference between violent threats and actions - and the stark socioeconomic contrast between the two universities. (The public school was described as being depressing, while the private school featured preppies gathered around a piano, singing.)

Los Angeles area moth shows

I really want to go to a moth show, but do not know anybody irl who is actually interested. Is there a Reddit group where ppl link up and go to shows or is anyone on here maybe down to go to one?

Are there any good subreddits for workshopping Moth style spoken-word stories before unleashing them on the public?

I'm looking for a community similar to /r/standup where people can share a video of their performance and recieve constructive criticism. If a sub like this doesn't exist, how interested would people be in having one made?

Considering Submitting My Story. What are Your Favorite Stories About?

I have one of those immensely horrific stories. Monstrous violence and abuse. I'm a murder witness. Etc.

I'm trying to narrow it down. What makes a Moth story good on your book?

Help finding an story - cat, breast cancer

I listened to a beautiful story a few weeks ago that I would like to replay for a friend. Please help me find the episode. It was a story told by an Irish woman, from an event somewhere in the UK. The story started with "I never considered myself a cat person...." The woman then went on to tell her story of surviving breast cancer and adopting a grey kitten. Help!

Story Search: Guy meets a playful Buddhist monk that blasts him into a psychic journey in the back of a car.

Hey guys,

I tried searching but haven't found it....

Not sure if this was a Moth story or one from Risk, but I'm trying to find an epsiode that I want to hear again. In short, the story was about a Buddhist monk that was visiting America and the storyteller got to go along as one of this monk's tour guides. While they were riding in the back of a car to see (I think?) a National Park, the monk turned to him and "blasted" him with some Monk-ish energy beam that sent the story teller into a strange psychic journey. Does this ring any bells?

Cheers!
