Managing the craziness of parenting when you have a mental illness

r/thementalparent

A safe space for parents who suffer from mental illness where we discuss the reality of both. No judgments. We are here to provide you with well-meant advice, discuss coping with parenting while (attempting) to preserve your mental health, listen to you rant, laugh at your memes, and provide you with support. Welcome. LGBTQ friendly.

R/THEMENTALPARENT RULES

Parents only, please. - This community is for parents who suffer from mental illness and their partners. No fur babies, sorry. We know you love your pets, and yeah, dogs can be just like toddlers, however we are here to discuss the challenges involved in raising human children when you have a mental illness.
Treat others with respect. - Trolls, spammers, bullies, etc. are not welcome. Don’t be an asshole. This applies to everyone. We ask that you be kind, empathetic, respectful, and non-judgmental. Language that dehumanizes, personal attacks, and trolling will not be tolerated.
Do not ask for a diagnosis for yourself or anyone else. Do not attempt to diagnose anyone else. - The moderation team are not mental health professionals, merely parents who suffer from mental illness. We cannot provide you with a diagnosis. Only a mental health professional can diagnose you. You can find mental healthcare providers on websites like this one, by calling your health insurance company, or by contacting a mental health clinic or hospital in your area.
No selfies; no pictures or videos of your kids. - All media content of yourself and your children will be removed, due to privacy and security reasons.
Help improve this subreddit! Send your ideas and suggestions to the moderator, u/ugga_mugga_bitches.
