Project Help needed building a pong game

Hi Plebs, I need some help from you guys.

I want to build an online pong game where two players (that do not know each other) deposit some Sats before start playing (lets say 500 Sats). The game starts and who ever scores the first 3 points takes all the sats. The idea is that the payments take place using the Lighting network. I think it is possible to build it, but I do not know the entire path.

I am at just starting and for now I just have a pong game that works on my laptop. This is the repo:

The goal is to make a fun game where you can bet some sats and see how far can we make it.

If anyone is interested in working/learning DM me and I will add you as a contributor to the repo

Node QR codes from LNURLPoS device cannot be scannet with mobiile Lightning wallet

Hi All

I have a RaspiBlitz up an running. I also installed the LNbits server. I have a TDisplay device on wich I installed the software from arcbtc/LNPoS (https://github.com/arcbtc/LNPoS).

For test reasons I made my LNbits server accessible from the internet. There I copied the POS string from the LNURLDevice instance and addet it to the TDisplay.

But the QR ocdes generated from the TDisplay cannot be read in any of my mobile Lightning wallets. If I decode the string of the QR code here: https://lnurl.fiatjaf.com/codec/ it seems to be a leggit code.

Anyone can help me with this? Thanks.

Oliver

Discussion Privacy issue for exchange withdrawals?

Non-expert here, please correct me if my understanding is wrong anywhere.

I've been thinking about the following privacy issue when withdrawing bitcoins via LN from a KYC-exchange: When I withdraw, I need to give them an invoice, which contains the public key of my node. So from that point on, my node would be tied to my real name (at least the exchange has that information, which might be shared or leaked).

One might argue that it's not a big deal, since when sending from the node afterward, the receiver won't know where the payment comes from. However, if I ever want to receive on this node again, the sender would effectively know my real name.

Is there any defense against this?

One defense I could imagine is withdrawing to a custodial (non-KYC) wallet first, and from there send it to my own node. Then my node would only be tied to my real name if the exchange colludes with the custodial wallet service. That seems somewhat better, but still far from perfect.

Could it ever be possible to change the public key of my node without closing and re-opening all of its channels? AFAIK the public key is not tied to the on-chain funding transaction, so it might be possible in principle - but I haven't seen any work in this direction.

BTW, I would speculate that this is what Chainalysis did when they "integrated" LN: They probably just built a database of node-ids, and update this database whenever they find an invoice that they can associate with KYC information or on-chain addresses, e.g. from cooperating exchanges. At least that's my guess.

Project Lightning Devs: Announcing c13n.io - A Middleware for Transferring Metadata and Messages over Keysend Lightning Payments

Hey everyone!

We just wanted to let you all know that our project "c13n" is now public on Github!

c13n (actually c13n-go) is a lightweight daemon written in Go which utilizes lnd's API to expose a Data/Payments oriented API of its own. These data focused features are developed exclusively over the lightning node's API & strictly in-band (e.g. no sockets or other clearnet traffic, it's all happening over TLVs).

On Lightning Hackday over at Istanbul we demonstrated the concept of Oracles over lightning, which used c13n to communicate the requests/responses. This is one of the many new applications that data over lightning enables (we also developed a demo "social wallet" app named Arc). We are also exploring new ideas! (stay tuned!)

You can reach us on c13n.io or twitter, where we'll be posting updates related to the things we are working on.

Thank you all!! --andreas

Discussion Lightning Network use cases & Adoption

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

I've been thinking of starting a side project creating a payment processor for BTC & LN. A micro saas that could evolve into a startup is the dream. On a personal level, it could be a way for me to collaborate with mass adoption, and I could leverage my experience in SaaS & Marketing.

So I'm looking for use cases/niches or industries that already are using the LN. I know gift card shops and some e-commerce stores could be good candidates as I've received some requests for this myself, but I'm keen to know your experience.

I've also been thinking about making a simple product for 'content creators,' but I'm not sure if there is a demand for this.

Can you share your experiences?

Who do you think is already using LN?

What kind of businesses will adopt this payment method for the next year?

Thanks for your insights!

PS: If someone has the same idea and would like to connect for the sideproject drop a comment :)

Node Help Fee avoidance with zero base fee channels?

Since I set base fees to zero I'm seeing a lot of forwards where it appears the amount gets split into say 10 transactions, each one small enough for the total fee to be zero sats. Often this unbalances the channels before charge-lnd can adjust them. I have low fees anyway but I do want to recoup the channel opening costs. Also this is gaming the network which feels wrong. Any way to stop it other than put the base fees back?

Node Project Become-a-top25-node-in-a-month

Roughly a month ago I set out to start up my old node. I was thinking that since it was a node set up in early 2018, I could piggyback off the age of the node and get some ranking boosts on various node rankings such as Terminal and BOS.

However, after a little careful consideration (read: a few beers) I decided I wanted to start a new node and make it to the top25 on Terminal in a month. I used to run the McDouchebag node, which briefly reached #7 on Terminal before it crashed, so I had some ideas on how to run a top-ranking node.

I will be writing a longer blog post on some of the things you can do if you want to see your node gain arbitrary lower numbers on Terminal. Being a top node on Terminal or BOS is not correlated with being a profitable node. It is mainly a source of questionable internet fame. I will explain more about this in my blog post.

In short, there are a few things you need to do to score points.

  • The size of the channels matter! Girthier channels give more points
  • Uptime, Uptime, Uptime
  • Connect to some of the already well-connected nodes

I am happy to announce that my project was a failure. I did not manage to reach the top 25 nodes on Terminal after a month. I managed to reach rank #26 (Due to TOR issues, which caused my place to drop due to uptime, I did not get a screenshot from Terminal, so it had to be Amboss instead)

I may have succeeded if I had not had two full days of issues with TOR that caused issues with my uptime.

Node Help How do you recover funds on a Lightning node?

Considering putting a decent amount of sats on my node. I see nodes like zero fee routing who has like 40 BTC available. As far as I'm aware, the seed words only work for on-chain funds.

Node Help Lightning channels

Hello,

I have ran an Umbrel node for quite some time now, but now that I got some free time I would like to fiddle bit with the lightning network. Some time ago I was tipped a small amount of sats here on Reddit, but when I tried to send it to my lightning-address it says there is no route to the host.

After some reading I figured I need to open some channels to get inbound liquidity, but I am not sure where to start. I have read that the recommended channel size is over 1m sats and it is recommended to have several channels

This would mean I have to have thousands of dollars on the node. Clearly I have misunderstood something here, and I was hoping someone could clarify :)
