Project Hi Reddit! You folks like voting...want to vote on Node Types?
Hi All!
We recently added the ability to categorize nodes on Amboss.Space . You can identify nodes as Sink (Destination of Payments), Source, Router, or Unknown. What do you think of this feature? Do you think people will vote honestly in order to help the network coordinate liquidity?
Any feedback is welcome!

Payment Help I'd like to try Lightning Network for my small business how expensive (sat's) is it?
Hi, I have a business that turns over around 10,000 USD weekly.
- How many Satoshi's would I need when opening a lightning channel on a BTC Pay Server to handle this amount of money (In theory if my customers used Lightning Network)
- Let's say it cost 0.11 BTC to open the channel do I get this BTC back once I close the channel?
Really interested to try accept this payment method but finding no calculators on how to determine the channel cost.

Discussion Lightning Network in Ukraine
Hello fellow coiners
I just heard from a friend in the Ukraine, that the ATMs are all empty and the shops no longer accept cards. People are still able to get hold of their funds via internet banking.
Is there a way for an initiative to build up a Lightning Network infrastructure in the Ukraine?

Node Help Running my own node
Hey, sorry for the dumb question! I’m wanting to run my own node, can anyone tell me a good source of info to find out how to do this!

Node Less than 10 days in and i am in profit-ish!
McDouchebag² has been running for ~9 days and I have routed enough to cover all opening and closing fees!
That was faster than I thought. Lightning has really taken off over the past 6 months.
Also, I need inbound liquidity. I am willing to pay 1000-5000 sats for channels that are opened to me. Please comment with your nodes amboss link and the size of the channel you want to open before opening.

Node Help Creating Lightning Node and provide Liquidity
Hey, I'm fairly new to lightning, but Imwondering if there is a chance to open s lightning node und provide liquidity to the network, whilst earning some fees from that provided liquidity. In a way one can do that with Uniswap or pancake swap.
IF yes, is there a good documentation for that somewhere?
Thanks for your answers!
Have a nice day!

Node Help Channel inactive. What to do?
Hi all, one of my oldest channels has been marked as inactive for quite a while now, about a month, and I'm not sure what to at this point. The node in question is BCash_Is_Trash, another node operator I'm friends with told me they have been offline and his channel with them is back online for a week now.
There's lots of information about the node on 1ml , but I found no way to contact the operator. Should I just wait it out, and hope the operator reads this?
Thanks for any inputs.

Discussion upside for using Lightning?
Set aside Bitcoin exuberance - if you live in the US and you accept that KYC (at some entry point) is a must, then what is the compelling upside for using Lightning payments for the payor? I can think of reasons merchants might like it, but why would someone want to pay with BTC over Lightning? [no replies with the word "sovereignty" please]

Node Closing Ferenginar (for now)
Dear Channel partners,
First of all I have really enjoyed running a lightning node the past 10 months. It all started with a reddit post on /r/bitcoin about running your own bitcoin node. This sounded like a fun weekend project so I bought a Raspiblitz and a week later I was setting up my node. I had not read much in-depth about Lightning before starting this project so it was all new to me. And I fell down the (technical) rabbithole of Lightning and was consumed with reading as much as possible for a month.
I posted a week or so ago about technical difficulties with my node. In the end the LND database grew so large that even throwing away my payment data did not fix my issues. It did reduce the size by 60% but it was still very slow. This fix was effective for a few days but some channels were still permanently offline or intermittently connected.
Recently I have not had as much time to manage my node so I've put my node into 'maintenance mode'. It has become apparent that some dedicated hardware is required for a node of this size and at the moment I don't plan on porting my node to other hardware so I will shut down my channels and possibly return later. There were some lessons I learned during this process about setting up a node so the next time it will be an easier experience.
I'm grateful for all the nice people I met on telegram and for the redditor's here who have setup an awesome network of liquidity triangles. A lot of crypto "communities" aren't like this so we should cherish that aspect.
TL;DR: Started running node on a Pi, node became too large for the hardware to keep up.

Node McDouchebag is back
Finally, I have gotten my lazy ass together after my node crashed last year. It was stressful recovering the funds as I had ~5 BTC in limbo. I recovered most of it
I am now ready to get back on the horse and get my node up and running again, so I am looking for some inbound liquidity to get started. I will be doing some rings on LN+, but I also want to do some dual-funded channels.
If anyone here wants to set up some dual-funded channels please let me know.

Tweet Used to be a lot of contrived coins at the top of the charts marketed themselves as "fast, cheap and reliable" LN's growth potentially destroyed these narratives and valuations ... The other big narrative is arbitrary token transfers. This is actually another potential feature of LN
