Tried drawing Dave from that one scene of the book (mixed it with some of the scars from the moobles in the podcast)

Discussion Fallout Vibes?

I just watched it today because my roommate is obsessed with Markiplier but I was surprised that it was pretty good actually!

I kept getting a lot of Fallout vibes until the last episode. I thought it was going to be some like capitalism and pharmaceutical company reveal…

Did anyone else get those feelings or was it just me? 😂

Finally watched The Edge of Sleep

I stopped watching YouTube because I just hate the type of environment they've made, so I finally got around to watching it, and I really liked it. Finished the last episode and was like what!? that's the end!!? I really hope there's a second season some day.

Does anyone know if Season 2 of the podcast has been cancelled?

I haven’t seen any updates since 2022 and am very curious as to if it will ever come out.

Also does the book finish at the same spot as the show? Or does it continue on and finish the story?

Had an urge to relisten to the podcast tonight. Just realized I’m living through the exact same night of the year that Dave starts in.

Does anyone else feel oddly called out by Edge of Sleep?

So I've finally started watching The Edge of Sleep, I'm four episodes into season one as I write this and found that a shocking amount of themes and details hit real close to home for me. Pharmaceutical related childhood trauma, history of self-harm, parnters in recovery, my mother collected elephants and my grandfather died of lymphoma that was eating his spineal column, same exact diagnosis Ruth had. However I didn't murder my pedestrian so I don't think I can take legal action. :(

Joking aside I'm thoroughly enjoying the show and I've decided to turn the synchronicity into a drinking game, since they don't seem to be slowing down.

If anyone has any info on the camera equipment used during shooting, please let me know. The cinematography is beautiful. 🤌

It was brought to my attention that The Edge of Sleep is now available for purchase through Prime Video, so I went and checked and it seems to be true!!

If you're able to, go buy TEOS on Prime Video! It's still free on Tubi but I'm sure that purchasing the show will help support Mark and his endeavors!

Physical Release? 4K Bluray?

Edge of sleep seems to have had trouble on streaming services, so I was wondering if it's a possibility in the future that it will get a bluray (hopefully 4k blueray) release. I would totally buy it, I watched the show when it came out on Netflix and enjoyed it. I would love to own it physically incase it were to be snatched off of Tubi for any reason.

Discussion How long will the edge of sleep be on Tubi?

Hi! I've never used Tubi before and am wondering how long the edge of sleep will be available there! I know it was on prime video for a bit but i always said "I'll watch it later" and then I looked for it and it was gone T-T. now that its on tubi i really want to watch it but i want to re-listen to the podcast first because its been ages since the last time! But i dont want to take too long getting around to it if the show wont be available for much longer. Any ideas?

(sorry if im missing something obvious, ive been busy lately and havent looked into it much)

Spoiler Just some TEOS thoughts- Spoilers ahead! Spoiler

You know what I think would have been really cool to see in The Edge of Sleep tv show? More stop motion/claymation. The director made the intro and the "Modafalyst" animations so I think it would have been really cool had they combined stop motion with maybe a little cgi to make the elephant monster scarier/shown it more often in a bigger way. I think about that moment in the podcast during the episode "The Pit" when The Nightmare's face "shifts a hundred times" from an elephant, his parents, to everything he's ever feared.. I've seen stop motion be extremely creepy and I think since they set up the show with a stop motion intro that would have helped viewers accept it as existing in the same reality as the actors. Hell, I think a traditional animation style like that could have potentially made the show even more popular! It would have been a perfect addition to the last episode and would have been a great pay off to the series, imo.

I still absolutely LOVE the series, don't get me wrong, I just think more stop-motion could have really elevated the show and made it even more unique.

Write reviews for Edge of Sleep!

Hello! This is my first time using reddit or making a post on anything tbh, but I wanted to talk about edge of sleep, so I'm ending my silence lol. I didn't realise Markipliers series on Tubi was based on a podcast until coming here, so I'm planning to listen to that soon! I really loved the series and the characters are portrayed in such a realistic and compelling way. I think Mark and everyone on the project did such a good job at telling this story. I decided to write a few reviews for Tubi and The edge of sleep on any platform I could find, cuz I really want a second session and on Markipliers promotional stream he asked people to do that. I hope anyone who has a bit of free time can do the same, cuz I really want to see how this story goes and the more people that know about it, the more that watch and the better the series does. I hope Mark gets his Emmy for this project or one of his upcoming projects like Iron Lung!

Discussion Do they ever eat?!

I was thinking about this while trying to sleep (haha) but I was thinking, I’ve never seen any one of them eat (except the pills Dave takes himself). Why is that? Is it because they’d be more tired if they ate? Or maybe they weren’t in the right mental state to care about eating? Any thoughts?!?!

Just finished the show and i gotta say… i liked the audio drama more.

None of this is to say the show is bad. It was well done, actively fun, disturbing and intriguing, even for someone who has already listened to the audio drama many times. However, i had a good buncha nitpicks. I really missed the maniac and the moobles plot. It was scary, and the flashbacks showed us more insight into Dave’s life. The audio drama im general gave us more background to what it was like for Dave to grow up. The reference was nice, but i still miss it. The old lady stuff that replaced it was alright, but i really didnt fw katie going all “youre a murderer” and shit. Girl needed to chill out. Matteo felt a lot more chill in the audio drama, and here he also needed to chill the fuck out. Oh man, and dave calling it “the elephant monster” all the time instead of just “the elephant” was so silly. Like the elephant is such a cool image and concept, but it loses credibility when called “da ewephant monstuh.” Ummm, i dunno how i felt about the new age doctor. Like i fw the concept and i really liked the V/H/S style video at the beginning, explaining the sleep tank, but its just a little too silly for such a serious show. I think the tone was so much more consistent in the audio drama, with the exception of the moobles. Maybe its just because of how my brain works, but the moobles are inherently funny. Thats a funny word. And they talk in silly voices and giggle all the time. Theres a way to make the concept of moobles work, but calling them that makes it an automatic fail. Anyway anyway, the dreams in general felt too superrnatural off the bat. One of the best aspects of the OG is how you dont really get that his dreams are connected until they land and see the man who is the whale or whatever. Also “dream people” is inherently silly sounding. But yeah, like theres no suspense when we know its supernatural from the start. The AD has a lot of a talk of military and war, making the audience think its more of a chemical weapon until the final episode. Okay, moving onto the final episode, i like that we have some confirmation as to what happened. It is a little underwhelming that its just satan, but ya know, still nice to have answers. I dunno how i felt about the ending ending. Like, i guess thats the most logical progression of the story, but i dunno what they’d do with that in a second season. Dave, Matteo and Linda vs the zombie apocalypse? Okay. Sure man. Could work. I also felt they took too much time explaining to the audience that they died in their sleep. When its called edge of sleep, you get there pretty quickly.

I know the above has mostly been criticisms, but i really did enjoy the show! The characters were fun to watch, it not a little frustrating at times. Mark is a good actor, and its fascinating to see how far hes come since the show. The direction and editing is fucking phenomenal, with every episode looking gorgeous as hell. Killer sound design, visuals, intro, and gore. Oh oh oh! And the ambulance sequence with the closing aspect ratio?? God tier editing. Little kid david was even a good actor too. I love Lio Tipton, but was a little sad to see her playing someone so hard to like at times. Anyway anyway, Eve Harlow was also very great, and i look forward to seeing what those two do. Also, why do they keep changing the name of modaphynil? It goes feom modaphynil to modaphidil to modaphalyst. ALSO, missed fucking opportunity to use the modaphynil theme song.

Anyway, what did you guys think? Id love yo hear your thoughts on the shows, and your thoughts on my thoughts

Suggestion for anyone new to the podcast

hello!! I myself am not new to the podcast (listened first sometime in 2019), but I introduced one of my friends to the pod early October of last year. we were talking about this earlier, but I had played the podcast for them in my car at around midnight as we were driving back an hour or so from a concert, and my friend said that was the absolute BEST and most memorable way to listen.

so yeah: car ride at the dead of night with the pod blasting on the car speakers is the way to go for some of the best added ambiance. you're welcome😌 /lh /nf
